The Blue btch is the damn to the Black gyp and a young black dog you will see working in a few pics down. My black and tan dog is the same exact cross as the black dogs pictured and can get it done on hogs. I always like to see dogs from a litter used and proven both ways.

These dogs belong to a man who works my grandads cattle and is also a family freind. He also has a young black and tan male that he says is making a dog which came from a freind of mine out of a Btch who is a litter mate to the CB bred dog I bred my Paris Gyp to.

Now a little story. We worked about 160 momma cows from two pastures we worked thier calves and palpated the dry cows and sprayed everything for flies. The first set had to be driven about a mile and a 1/4 across a very busy FM road and through the ranch to the headquarters. There is a wooden lot much closer but no way to palpate there......se we drove them to the main pens. We put that set of cows in a trap while we worked the second set but no one thought about pulling the bar across the cattle guard and a few cows jumped out and it was'nt realized untill we were about to cross the county road and saw some cows allready back in the pasture which we thought had been missed that morning, but we saw the calves had been worked. Then we realized what had happend. Those cows had jumped the cattle guard and took thier selves on the 1 1/4 mile trip back home.

Ofcourse its not really that supprising to those who been around cattle very long....they know how to get home.

We took a head count only to find we had 8 head missing which we figgured to be in the first pasure which has allot of thick woods and two creeks running through it and next to the pipe pens at the head quarters. So we Turned two dogs out and found them pretty quick and drove them back where they needed to go. Those are the pictures. With out dogs driving that set of cattle 1 1/4 miles, across a busy road and two big creeks to the pens and then back again would have been a big task and most likely, we would not have even attempted it with out them. But add just two good stock dogs in the mix and it becomes a trail ride. lol Same goes for finding the 8 missing head what would have taken a couple hours to find them in the woods took about 15 minutes. Next time the bar across the cattle guard will be shut but then ofcourse we probly wont have a chance to let the dogs hunt.

With good handle and the ability to call the dogs back and give the cows thier head to make better time...... or send them up front to bring them under more controle at creek crossings and to stop them long enough to stop traffic on the county road the drive actually went pretty fast and safe with minimal stress on the cattle. Thats what Cur dog are all about.
