I have a 15 year old son (Butch) who is Autistic. He is very high functioning in fact you would never know he is different from any other boy his age until you have a conversation with him. He loves everything about hunting. He has taken two hogs with a rifle and his first boar with a crossbow this January. I would like to see Butch get the chance to see some good dogs in action. From all that I see on this site there are alot of great hunters here willing to share knowledge and time with new hunters. Most young men would love the chance to go but for Butch it would be the experience of a lifetime. We live in Jasper County (between Beaumont & Lufkin) . Anyone willing to show him what its all about I would appreciate it.

Kville- I also have a 15y/o son that was born premature, but by the grace of God, developed into a healthy young man. He has a younger brother, and 2 step brothers, both younger than him. To say we are blessed is an understatement and I tell them almost daily how lucky they are.
My oldest is in FFA and 4-H and does alot with his little brothers. He recently told me he wanted to do something for someone else to present a report to his youth group. Although we hog hunt with dogs, their is never an easy hunt with us. Our property is rough for La standards, and full of trashy spots that really wear us out. I would love to have him on a hog hunt, but I don't think he would enjoy ours!!!! LOL!
What I can offer is a speckle trout trip to Big Lake with my son if he is up to fishing in a boat. I live 80 miles east of the state line and fish Big Lake on a regular basis since it is about 45 minutes from my house. If you think this is something you think he would enjoy, send me a PM and we can arrange something before it gets too hot for the summer. Thanks, Bryan

Kville, I have been busy as heck this Spring and my hog hunting has been hit and miss and spur of the moment. I do see light at the end of the tunnel and by the end of May(when its getting nice and hot. ) I will be able to commit to a hunt with you and your son. If you are still looking for a hunt or just want to go again, then let me know. It would be my pleasure. I live in the SE Texas area and you wouldnt have to fare to drive.

WE are not what I consider in your area, however if you don't get Butch fixed up with a hunt before too long, shoot me a message. We are located between Houston & San Antonio. My husband and I do enjoy taking some of those that are sometimes at a disadvantage for hunting with dogs on hunts. Thomas works with special needs kids as a full time job, and has a very good understanding and experience with Autistic people. So if someone closer does not get you on some hogs with dogs, please shoot me a message through this website and we will be happy to do so. I hope Butch is excited!

First of all I want to say thank you to everyone that has responded. Hog doggers may have a kind of rough around the edges reputation but there are some big hearts out there. I am going to talk to Butch about this today. I did not want to mention it to him until I could be more specific. With him its all about details, who, what, when, where! Thank you again and we will be getting with you real soon.

I am about 30 miles west of fort worth and would love to put him on a hog! My wife works with autistic kids as well and it would be our pleasure. My family was raised with special kiddos of all ages, I have even taken my little brother doggin who is downsyndrome and he loved it. If you are ever up in my neck of the woods dont hesitate to call. 817-692-1307
