Garmin is coming out with the DC-40 at the 3rd quarter of this year. It is expected to have a feature called "COLLAR LOCK" which prevents other hunters from seeing your dog on there 220. The suggested retail will be around $250 per collar, which is around $50 higher per collar than the current DC-30.

This is also NOT going to be a replacement for the DC-30, it will just have some new features that the DC-30 does not have - such as Collar LOCK and still a 7 miles range depending on terrain and location. One of the best features is that it will have a receiver that connects to ANY 1" collar - so your dog will only need ONE collar, instead of potentially the two that many people have.

The dc30 state a seven mile range too. I don't believe that you will see any range improvemnt.
One or two collars is not a big deal. The dog will still have to carry both devices, so the weight is about the same.

its not the weight the dogs have to carry, its that the new collar can be used on any 1" collar even those that have the leash/leader ring on them so u have to hav just 1 collar and u can still lead the dog around even if the tracking sys is on.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!
