Places we hunt we would never get back on if we didn't they cost these farmers and ranchers too much money from all the damage they do.

we have about 30K acres to hunt....most of this is because these land owners want the hogs gone. We produce dead hogs for these guys and thier neighboring land owners call and ask us to come to thier places. We love to hunt but it is in most cases about a service provided.

Only 1 thing gaurantees I will kill the pig and that is if it cuts my dogs, Other then that I factor in how far I am from the truck or how many I've harvested that day. If I am hunting for meat than I will cut and release the boars and take sows and barrs out. It is illegal to transport any wild animal here in Hawaii but I have done it on a couple occasions such as trainer pigs or a nice 1/2 domestic sow that I brought home to release in my cousins pen.

same as the others, landowers rules. Most don't even care if you leave the carcass right where you catch it, as long as it's not where someone will run over it and tear something up. I eat a lot of hogs, every one that I can reasonably carry out either whole or boned out goes to my freezer on into the dog pens. The endstate is that most of the landowners (where I am) don't care what you do with it, as long as the result is a dead feral hog.

Most of the places I hunt the land owners dont know what I catch or what I do with them. They just know a decrease in damage for awhile. I try to cut the young boars under 100 pounds or so. Big boars usually get sold, sows get sold or released if I canrt get them out. I try not to stick many hogs, but sometimes it cant be helped. Either way, killed or released, the hogs will be gone for a little while from most properties

If the farmers and ranchers I hunt for found out I let one go. I would be hanging from the nearest tree with a tall branch an short rope, and my dogs would be hanging like a yote on the fence post LOL.
The folks around here want them all dead. Kill them an let them lay, feed the buzzards and yotes, and gut shoot them to run off an die some place else. I can understand why in some areas folks cut and release. Mainly in areas the hog population is not as high as it is here, but around here 5 hogs pop up for ever hog you kill it seems like. Kill em all and let the buzzards eat!

Like you said its anyones style but honestly it all depends on the hunt if that big boar runs all over my lease before i stop him he is gunna die ... but if he stops an bays up i might cut him an turn him loose but we process all our meat so whenever i catch a big tasty barr or sow an were hungry he meets my 8 inch KA-BAR but i do perfer to tie them up an relocate them to another lease i hunt

I don't want to release a hog somewhere else, because to me that's like messing with someone's livelihood. If I release hogs close to somebody's field that doesn't have them, and they start rooting up his crops then those hogs are costing him money, maybe thousands of dollars, and it's my fault. Taking them out alive to butcher later or sell is an entirely different matter I think. Might as well get some gas money if you can. I also understand why some folks barr and release there, and if that's cool with the landowner then I say go for it. It's tradition to some folks, more like hog working than hog hunting. Hope that makes sense.

It is against the law to transport and release a farrow pig in the State of Texas. How about I catch my roaches and release them somewhere else. Pigs are bottom of the food chain. What happens to a pig on a farm? But the farrow pigs get to live free for most of their life. Maybe you should go to the neighborhoods that have a hog problem and ask them if hogs should be released. It sounds all nice and sweet to catch and relocate but it is not realistic. They are caught because they are a problem not just for the fun of it.

As some of the others have already stated, we are required to kill any hog we can by the landowners. It's taken us years to build a good relationship with several farmers down in GA where we hunt and that would be undone in one minute if they found us releasing a caught hog, on their place or anyone elses. We kill a lot of hogs and eat every one of them, since we have several folks in our crew. Here in Bama where I live, I've heard the Game Warden say that he might just shoot anyone that he caught relocating a wild hog, needless to say they frown on it around here.

Fl requires a "Feral Swine Dealer" permit inorder to move them off the property they were caught and left alive - period. They require you to keep a log book with the date/number of hogs and what was done with them; if you are taking them home your hog pen is supposed to be registered or you have to sell them to an approved facility/"preserve". We were stopped the other night for the first time and checked but I think the guy was new cause everyone else knows us and where we hunt. A few years back you could get 50 bucks for a good meat hog and 100 for a "trophy" which was anything with over 2 inches. Now you are lucky to get 10 or 15 bucks for either of them since it is so hard to sell them with out worrying about getting caught selling them alive to an unapproved buyer cause they are supposed to be dead. Where we hunt you can take a trailer load to the gas station and have them sold by lunch, one weekend we got 60.00 for 14 head I think which is better than nothing! We do not typically turn them loose unless we barr them for our future consumption, the sow I posted the other day was the first in a long time and she was relocated some where they dont mind a long way from fields. The way I look at it is if it ccan still have babies then it is still a problem.

i just started hunting a piece of land by the house and the first thing the old man told me is DO NOT KILL THE HOGS ON MY LAND. Not sure his reasoning but didn't care to ask since i take all the hogs out alive.
