I usually just hunt with the same people I have for years. I have been invited to some good spots but just don't like the idea of hunting with a bunch of people I don't know. I hunt solo or with one or two people and two or three dogs at the most. I like when we are in the woods you don't have to tell anybody anything they already know what to do.

I don't mind taking folks hunting with me as long as they do not have dogs of their own or such like LOL. Unless they are from aways off and do not live close by. As I have taken folks from around here before and had them go ask the farmers and ranchers for permission to hunt, and use my name as a referance to get that permission.

Bayhard I  have hunted with several different people some I will hunt with again and again just good people some I will never hunt with again just Idiots!! We enjoy hunting and always work it where you use your dogs this morning  I use mine in the evening!! Or try to match the dogs to where they fit the pack!! Most guy's know what there dogs do and if one's alittle rough then he will say he is rough just work around it!!! But I feed alot of dogs and train the pups by myself perfer no one with me when hunting pups!!!

Some people got to build a trust with you!! There's alot of equiment, fuel, deer and other things on the place's that I hunt and would only take someone I trust that would not shoot a deer or steel fuel!!

He might have heard that you was a good guy and don't mind it now where before just didn't trust you!!

If they would have called and said lets go hunting. Then yeah we would have gone there in all likely hood. As other then these three places he only had one and did not have the dogs to stop the hogs there, and it was a pain to hunt as well. I think that is why he did what he did, but it still did not matter he only would catch one or two hogs in about 5 or 6 hunts out there. While at the time we were catching 3 or 4 every time we went. In the long run it came back to bite him where it hurts. That is why I am VERY picky about who I let go hunt my places with me now. An why it is mainly my father, nephews, sis in laws BF, and a good friend from work that go with me now.

Bayhard, one thing you may need to consider is how hard the other hunter has had to work to get a well established reputation to get the land he hunts. Not to say there is anything wrong with yours. Sometimes you just need to " pay your dues". When I started I was on my own, no help. I made my mistakes and lots of them. Now I'm in the drivers seat with good dogs and lots of land to cover. I take friends with me, some with dogs and some without. Very few have the drive to dedicate the time and most of all the money to be really successful. Those that do I help as much as I can. If they come to me I expect them to listen. If not they're out. So if you get the opportunity at some point to hunt with someone always give respect. They may just be testing you or they may just be a hard headed A-hole. Good Luck, and good hunting!

Being curtious to someone does not mean owing you the opportunity to hunt with them.  Work on getting better spots yourself.  Problem solved!

There are many of reason why I prefer to run alone at times and others with certain people. The dogs involved, Past experiences with people or the spot we're planning on running. I try to never take or make anything personal whether I ask to go with someone or they ask to go with me and I would prefer to go alone. I have a friend who for the longest time I had to call to ask if I could tag along and always got turned down but today he is training young dogs and needs my "more experienced" dogs to turn his on and he calls me at least every other week to go, I don't believe in being silly so I have no problem running with him now. Don't let other people get you down, Just do your own thing and keep life positive.

bayhard this hoghunting thing is real funny like...if you get on this board people will help you out a ton with general konwledge, but when you ask to tag along many won't do it. there are few good ones on here that will give you a trial run and based off of that first impression they might ask you to go again. those people are few and far between. then there are the people that won't take you unless you have a place of your own to return the favor. that's cool too, they figure if you have your own place you won't steal theirs.

you can't let any one person or even a group of people get you down. i took me almost 2-3yrs to get the ONE place i have now. i was strictly a tag along hunter. luckily people didn't mind me bringing my dog and let me train mine with their more experienced dogs. some of the people that i started out hunting with sparingly i havent' hunted with in years, but i still consider them great people we just haven't hunted in a while. they still help me out and i do the same when i can. i've met a couple of other people that i hunt with more regularly.

the only reason i don't invite many people to hunt with me is the landowner doesn't want a lot of people on his property and we are having a huge problem with poachers(one even put up a friggin' home made hog trap on the land and cut fences to do it). many people on here have had really bad experiences with people that aren't real serious about it and dont' have "hog hunters sense". many times you need someone that can vouch that you are a good guy and a moral guy before they will take you..which can be hard because if EVEYONE is looking for a reference before they will take you how can you get that first reference..lol..

keep your head up and don't hold grudges..that person may turn out to be your best hunting buddy from now on...

I'm open to new or other people going. There isn't too many people from here that run hog dogs. Who is going to laugh at me when I say something funny or my dogs run a deer?  Cheesy But really,  I would have been in a jam a few times, if I wouldn't have had someone else along and an extra pair of hands. The only rule I have is, I have a gun if we need one, so leave yours at home.

i stuck my neck out once for a boy who was just getting started and needed to run his dogs with some finished dogs. My only rules when i take someone hunting with me is do not whoop or kick my dogs and do not hunt my places without permission. If someone was to call and ask i more than likely would let them go. Well i notice the hog are starting to run more and there isn't as much sign anymore. Then one day i get a phone call and the guy i took hunting was on the other end of the line and he said that they had a hog caught on my hunting place and wanted to know where the gap was so they could go in and get it. Since then there have been game cameras and feeders come up missing. and the finger gets pointed at me. Since then i have only taken three people hunting. U stick your neck out for people and they just cut your throat.
