After only hunting a few times in the past couple of months, I finally drug myself and my out of shape pups out in this heat. John and Ray came out and met me tonight at one of my city properties where they have been seeing a little hog activity in the past couple of weeks. We finally ended up with a nice sow and called it a night.

Nice sow. Been a LONG time since a pig was actually caught out there... Y'all must have had some superdogs on the ground or something Grin

Amen guys...  Heck, I sent a couple of my dogs out to be hunted by a friend for the summer. Just kept two dogs at the house, and they have dust building up on them.

I agree with you guys, its too hot to hunt already this year. Besides, with the year I have been having I don't want to even try pressing my luck this summer!

It was 95 degrees here with a heat index of 110 Monday. Very hot and humid, good way to kill a dog quick in this heat. Not to mention all the snakes & gators out.

I will probably just give my dogs the summer off. I need to be hunting my Bob x Red young dogs, but they got BIG, like 65-70 lbs and I just don't think they will be able to take the heat.

You guys that keep hunting all summer, just be careful. I used to go all summer too, just seems me and the dogs could take it better years ago. Must be global warming...it CAN'T be that I am older than I was then !!

Nice big sow Mike, be good to restock with.... Grin

At 5:30 this morning it was 82 degrees and so humid you could hardly breath at my house, not even a hint of a breeze.  I can't stand weather like this, it is not good for anything at all.  I haven't caught a hog since the end of April and I can't say as I have missed going that much with the weather like it is.  I still let my dogs out and stretch their legs and have been a few times at night to keep in shape a little but I am just not mad at the hogs like I used to be in the heat of the summer.

Good hog guys, I am glad yall were able to pull one out and get her caught.

Good hog Mike!

I hear ya!
Its hard for me to get motivated to do anything in this heat other than float in a cold Texas river with a fishing pole in my hand!

Jesse, I ain't worried about the dogs. I over-heated pretty good a few years back and my heat tolerance gets worse every summer... that and I'm gettin' closer to 40. :'(

It took a little while to get used to hunting around town, but I don't even think about it anymore. I haven't any problems yet, well except for the crazy woman pulling a shotgun on us, plus I have several LEO's on my cell phone that will have someone there in a few minutes. The only times i've been on hunts where dogs were picked up or hit by a car have been way out in the country.
