I usually take two pieces of mule tape and tie them pretty much like a hobble. Keeps their feet from swelling up and holds good. Plus it's real easy to get off.. Round rope will  hold as good or better..

I can promise you that chair won't run away.  Heck, you could even leave it overnight .

You need to give it some water until you decide what you are going to do with it.  I hate seeing chairs suffer.  The only thing worse would be to bring it to a NASCAR event.

Na, I can't be taking my living room furniture off anywhere like that . I always drink too many cold ones and forget and leave it..

Howzit guys! I'm not sure how many of you have seen our "packing" style here in Hawaii but majority of the places we hunt have no roads which means you throw the pig on your back and piggyback it to the truck!  laugh Most guys here go with the few hitches route but me being me and always looking to do things a little different have been using "Israeli Ropecuffs". It is a simple knot and you just tie off the 2 loose ends and throw the pig on your back. I am not sure how it would work on a live hog because you can get the ropes VERY tight and a live hog with no legs won't be worth much at the buying station (At least I wouldn't think so).

Here is a picture of my cousin packing a fatty sow  and then I will post a video of how to tie your own ropecuffs. Try it out on your friends or to detain an intruder while you coughtorturecough wait for the police to show up  laugh

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzB7RV4bKnU

That is a bad ass idea. I suck at tying hogs, ill admit that. But with each leg in the end of a doubled up noose; who could mess that up?

So tell us the truth, how did you learn about these kind of knots? Grin  Ya,ya, I know, I just learned about it on youtube too.  Shocked

Monteria-  Grin My kids and nephew have become such well behaved children since I've learned this method!  laugh Nah seriously though I had a few ropes come loose and pigs hanging off my back so I figured there had to be a video of something that would work better and this is what I came across and they work great for me and I also have found if you leave the tail end long you can "wrap" around the knot which will make it even tighter before tying it off.

yeah dont ask for it in the stores..lol Find someone you kow who is a lineman for the electric company they have spools of it.  Otherwise you can find it on the net but its not cheap.  Or maybe a supply house but its easier to throw the electric guy getting a sandwich at 7-11 five bucks for a bunch..Most places will only use it once before chucking it too.. thats how i get mine.

The landscapers use the same stuff to tie young trees up so the wind does not know them over. If you look, it is used all over.

http://www.cajuntiedowns.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TT_3QRT

All it is just 3/4" or 1" flat polypropylene rope. You can use any type of strong rope, polyprop or nylon or whatever.

In all seriousness, maybe if we ask nice the ladies from Hogs, Dogs, and Lace would do a little video of up close tying.  At the least they should be able to post step by step pics.  Just saying.
I'm sorry I just seen this!!I think I can get the women to show you how!! Wink
They use a 3/8 rope so the hogs feet don't swell always worked for us!!

The girls call the knot there Rapa - Tapa - Hoiey  Knot!!  There is a story why the call it that !!

Me and my wife used to see who could tie one faster I can't say who won but she can flat tie one pretty darn fast!!

Any word on this Rapa Tapa Hoiey knot?

.... but THIS is what still has me baffled... they don't cinch the legs tight together!  Some of the shots I've seen look like that hog could stand right up!  Fat string, and slack line are a recipe' for a hog kickin' loose to me... or maybe I just ain't figgured the technique out yet! (Most likely Grin)

Well Noah if I laid all my secrets out there for everyone all at once, we would have nothing to talk about later!  Wink So far out of all my years of tying I can't recall a hog that walked off once I perfected the Rapa-Tapa-Hooey. But, I love where your head is at... when in doubt, throw another half hinch!  Grin

I want to know how to pronounce it and tie. Just so I could say I know how to tie a "Rapa-Tapa-Hooey"

Well it's pronouced just like it is spelt and hopefully I can stop the paper work long enough to get to the woods and catch one for you guys and at the very least get some progression still shots. Now I happen to be one of those show me gals so for all you boys and girls out there who are the same as me.... I will work on getting a video together that will lay it out in real time.  Wink I actually did a little segment for the Georgia shows on how to tie the rapa-tapa-hooey but I haven't seen the edited version yet so I don't know if they are going to use it or not. I'll keep ya'll posted on that one. But, I must say from reading the other post it seems there are some pretty good methods being thrown out there. I just might have to change my method up a little. Wink
