After a week from hell at work, I was wondering how I could get a few things off my mind. I reached out to a few local buddies but they all were going out of town or had other plans so I thought I would make contact to a couple guys that I have talked to over the phone from the ETHD. It didnt take too much convincing to make a hunt. Raider54 called Daisydog and it was a done deal. We met up around 10:00pm and started loading things up and getting ready to head out. Paul (Raider54) was kind enough to let me bring a couple of my young pups to let them stretch their legs out. After making a couple stops we dropped the dogs around midnight. I was shocked how dry it has gotten around here. I knew we were short rainfall but the ground is already cracking. If we dont get some rain shortly were are going to be in for a long summer. Anyways, after about 20minutes we had our first bay. The dogs were hammering down so Paul cut the catchdog loose. About the time he cut Max loose the bay broke. He called Max back and the dogs kept on. We moved into the area they were bayed and their pup started barking not 30 yards from where we standing. It was a sounder of pigs. Who knows how many pigs were in the bunch but about the time Phillip and I got close, the pigs busted and were runnning everywhere. One of my pups picked one out and stopped it long enough for me to ninja stick it and it took off running towards Phillip. He must have just seen the new Karate Kid movie because I swear he recreated a kick on that stuck pig just like a martial arts pro. All the dogs took off, except my pups, and the hunt was on. I knew there were more pigs close so I walked my pups a little ways. All of the sudden my Chloe dog took off and a couple minutes later the dogs had another one caught. We tied it and moved on. We hunted for a couple more hours and the dogs sounded out and we had another bay. Paul cut Max loose and I walked a little closer to the bay. I could hear splashing so I knew they must be in the water. We move in and Max was latched on to a nice 200lb+ boar on the edge of a stock tank. Phillip moved in to leg it and sunk to his knees in mud. I moved in to stick it and sunk up to my knees in mud. I thank God that Max was anchored because it could have been bad if we wasnt. We stuck the boar, recovered our shoe and took a few pictures. The dogs rolled out for a little while longer. We caught them up and moved to another ranch down the road. We dropped to dogs again and the sun was coming up and both Paul and Phillip had plans the next day so after an hour or so we called it a day and headed to the house. Here is a picture of the boar that we caught in the tank. Thanks again guys for putting this hunt together and cant wait to do it again.
