Anybody heard from Mike? I was thinking about him  this morning watching the satelite view.

Thomas' company evacuated late Thursday night to Conroe, not the best place to have gone, IMO. They have no power. My mother is near Navasota and they have no power either.

Update-

Lost 1/2 of roof on my horse barn, lost the roof on my hay barn, and the roof on one loafing shed.  Only damage to the house is some lost shingles.

I lost 25,000 square feet of roof at my office, and had water in the office.

My power came back on Saturday night at 9:30. The next morning I dispatched my generators and fuel to others without power.

Gasoline, water, and Ice are in short supply.

Clay lost a number of trees, but now has power.

Mike does not have power, or running water (he is in the boonies, and has well water) He had to drive to Centerville yesterday to get fuel and ice.

We made it!!!!!!!

It's a mess... but no damage done to the house. We may be with out power for a couple of weeks.

Big thanks out to Clay and Stacy... they got power up this morning and brought their generator out to us this afternoon. We've been bbqing and drinking beer every evening... enjoying this cool weather and cooking what's left in the deep freeze. Temps in the 50's at night... oughta be in the woods!

Krystal, I talked to Thomas yesterday... Conroe wasn't the place to evacuate too... it's crazy up here now. Kinda feels like a war zone going into town.

I am so Glad to hear that EVERYBODY survived. all that other stuff can be replaced, inconvenient but sure makes you think how lucky we are.

I was so stressed out feeling helpless, not being able to reach alot of folks for days to know how they were. Knowing we did not get even a half inch of rain or any really bad wind.

We got power at my place Tuesday night. Before then we were on generator. Had the generator hooked up to the well pump also. I just had to rewire it to run on 110. There was a diagram on the side of the pump to show you how.

The house did not sustain any visible damage. I lost some shingles and boards off of the shed and pump house. The chicken coop and chickens made it. The rabbits made it. Melissa and the kids came back home Sunday night. They had gone to Rusk. I had plenty of supplies and the generator going so I had them come home. I've been working 14-16hr shifts at the Region 3 Command Center for TDCJ. We had lots of damage at some units. Several units are still on generators. But, no staff or inmate deaths. I go back to work again tonight. Looks like long hours for the next several weeks.

Melissa is scheduled to go back to work on Friday. The kids are probably going back to school next week.

We were blessed. God was looking over us at the Ley house. I hope everyone else is doing ok.

Say a prayer for those of us with the light company.  I know its stressful not having lights but for those with the same problems or worse having to work 16hrs at a whack with no time off till ALL the power is restored is extra hard.  People are wearing thin.
Keep the faith and hope that we can all make it through this.  I am so happy to hear that everyone was safe and the lack of structural damage was also great to hear.

Ike kicked my butt.  Blew away half my roof, had total ceiling failure in the master bedroom and bathroom, all kinds of water damage to the walls, the floor and personnel property.  That's life near the coast.  What can you do other than clean up what you can, line up contractors and wait for the insurance adjuster.

Matt, send your boys to Pearland.  My lights still no workie.  Wink  Hope you can hang in there.

Hey, I know we all took pretty bad hits with IKE either by losing property, losing power, or the like - but there are folks out there who lost everything they had and in some cases their own lives. Makes me realize how blessed we really were that we are all still here. I got to thinking that a week ago Friday, people were just business as usual. By Saturday morning, it was utter devastation.

Bad deal.

M

PS Hang in there Matt, I think the power companies are doing a fine job of getting power up and running as quickly as possible.

I'm glad everyone physically is okay.

I was thinking about some of you guys Saturday night.  I stayed up most of the night watching the news programs as it came ashore.

I didn't even plan a hunt Saturday morning because of the 3"-5" rain along with the "tropical storm" force winds that were predicted here in Temple/Belton.  I believe I got a total of 7 1/2 drops, along with a couple of gusts.  Earlier in the week when it was looking like Port A might be in the path, I made a quick run down and moved all the patio furniture in, secured the house and brought home my nephews boat that had been left down.  I did get to stop by and make a quick hunt with Douglas Mason on the way home so it was not a complete wasted trip!

We did have quite a few evacuee's in town for a few days.  My son's school was scheduled to have a back-to-school BBQ for the kids and families on Saturday afternoon, but the school decided to cancel and donate the food to the Mayborn Center here in town that was housing evacuee's.
