Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the range between the small antena or the old style longer antenna? I heard that a dog can be tracked further out with the old style.

You are more likely to get a 180 on the little antenna. The older yagi style gets a better direction. I can't answer about the range, as I have never seen a side by side comparison.

Reuben, I have both and the range is about the same from what I can tell. I prefer the yagi, it is more accurate and picks up a lot less static.

Yagi = Longer tracking range and pin point accuracy Quick shot = alot less irritating to fold and unfold, good range. I like em both
