I got a 07 dura max and i like everything about it except mpg.It gets around 16 mpg empty and 14 loaded to the gills.I used to be a used car dealer {please dont hold that against me}and bought and sold alot of full size trucks.I tryed staying away from the 01-04 d-max because of problems like injector pumps and fuel related problems. When ford quit using the 7.3 powerstroke they quit buildin trucks for hard work. The 03-05 dodge w/cummins are awesome trucks but the drivetrain could not handle what that powerplant was puttin out.My brother has an 08 dodge and it is a lemon, its been in the shop for 2 months and they cant fix all the problems that thing has.The dodge dealer just took it to the chevy dealer to get it fixed.Havent really heard anyone bragg about a 07 08 dodge that had it very long.Just check out whatever truck you like,if it looks like it was abused stay away from it cause it probly was. But,you never really know till u buy it,might of been someone elses headache or it might be the best truck ever built.JMO.Good luck with whatever you get.

My brotherinlaw bought a new one and a lawyer from another state wrote him and asked if he wanted to get on the list to file a lawsuit against Dodge. He hasn't had any problems with it and it sure looks good. He has a cummins six cylinder. If they ever put that engine in a ford I would go buy another ford... Smiley

go with a 5.9 L dodge, i have an 03 1 ton, not a dually but still 1 ton...highway mileage with my EDGE set on 1 or 2 I can get 23. But that is UNDER 2000 rpms and with bigger tires. As soon as you hit 2000 it drops to about 16 or 17 lol. I was running straight pipes, had to put a muffler and catalytic converter on because i got a ticket, it feels a little more restricted now.

if ur lookin for pulling pwr, go with the dodge. i got 100k on my 06 and (knock on wood) no issues with the engine area yet. dont look for good milage though. i had bout 12k, trailer and load and my milage was down to bout 8-10mpg. the milage will vary with every driver but when i was in iraq my last tour  a friend of mine and his dad had a pullin contest with the tcks. my friend had my tck, 06 5.9 cummins w/ 6spd 4x4 and it was stock at that time and his dad has an 04-06 duramax. they both loaded with 20 round bails each and the the cummins left the duramax behind. that is just my history with the both tcks. every tck is different as is every driver, with a diesel, the engin aint fully broke in till bout 60-80k miles but i would buy anything over 150kmls w/o known the maint history. best of luck on ur shopping

I agree, we have an 06 dodge 1 ton with over 100k on it and it runs and pulls good. Never been in the shop for anything mechanical (knock on wood). A good friend of ours had the same identical truck and traded it in for the 09 duramax and he regrets it every day. Says that he wishes he had his 06 dodge back.
