Craig a lot off people have no idea what it is like to see cattle hit the water like that and swim. The barge is pertty good to get your horses across . Be fore they had the barge, you put your saddle and tack in a boat and your horse swam along side. A barge may be a little har for you to find up thereLOL

This is a pic of 900 head that we swam. This is most cattle that I have ever help swim at one time

This is a pic of a few of the cowboys that helped swim the cattle. Im on the far left and that is the sorrel mare that fell over on top of me dragging the sow out of the caine thicket.

These are pics my wife had made up to put in our living room.

Ronnie those pictures sure bring back some memories. Oh how I wish we would have brought a camera along from time to time. I have actually been on a barge crossing the Lost River, that was a one way trip. For some reason we could never get the cows to swim across anywhere near the barge on the way out. Nice pictures Brother...

Not many sets of crossbred cows like that around any more.  Great pictures.  Keep them coming.

Thanks for letting us look at those pics Ronnie, when I was quite a bit younger I had a sorrel mare that was a twin to the one you're on in that pic.....thankfully she never drug me though.

Yes mam. That was before they messed it up by putting in the jetty and the new bridge in. These cattle are going to the island. When we came off we camped 0n the island for 3 days gathering and pairing cattle. Then we made the swim back home. And it took about 3 days to drive them home.

Well I bet that once or twice I saw you driving cattle when I was down at the family river house, wishing that I was able to be out there with yall.
My Grandpa cussed about those jettys going in more than a few times, and dredging the mouth and messing up all the fishing!
