How do you get a mouthy bulldog to shut up while on the 4wheeler or going to a bay? Both of mine will whine and bark alittle when the other dogs are hunting, and they both go crazy whining and barking once they bay. It seems like no matter how much you whoop them for it, it doesnt even bother them. Any ideas would be very helpful. I though about e-collars but i would hate for them to get away from me before i can take it off, and get the p!ss shocked out of them while trying to catch a hog, but ive had about all i can stand!

The e collar is the best way i have found. I dont run a cut collar on my bulldog so it doesnt interfere with that. Never had any problems with it on while they catch.

Timmy, i just now noticed i put e-collar. I was thinking about a bark collar. That would be my problem with an e-collar is fitting it on with a vest/collar

I know its hard to whip any sense into a hardheaded bulldog. My vest has a neck on it so I can out my tracking collar and e collar on under it. All I can say is good luck. Once they start it is hard to get a handle on it. You could get a d@g@!!

From what I have seen in the past,,, you really cant shock it in too em, or beat it out of em.. It has to not BE IN THEIR BLOOD... A man can go through 100 cds and may only find 20 of em with enough sense to figure it out,,others just dont have enough self control to learn patience.. Thats why it is so important, I think, that once you find a male and a gyp that does not pull on lead, doesnt whine on the box, no dog aggression, and doesnt run in to a catch with his eyes closed before he hits the hog.... You'd better BREED THEM>>>

I would have to disagree. Basic Obedience can go along way with any breed. Bulldogs do get switched on but it is your responsibility as an owner and handler to have a good handle on that switch no matter what it takes. E-collar is very effective and a hitch around their flanks will stop them from pulling everytime. JMO Joey Young

Bark collar you will have to attach wires to the contact points and run the wires under the cut collar. Just put something to hold the wires apart under the collar. It also works when bark collars have not worked. You can spread the wires and give a larger effected area. Just be careful not to go so far it may flow through the spine. That could be really bad.

JMO Joey Young You're right about the hitch,, but how many times does it take for them to learn when a bay is goin on where they can hear it,, I guess I just dont have enough patience for em anymore,,Done shocked em only to hear em holler more than they were before I shocked em. But theres plenty of fellers that know more about dogs than I do,, guess I just like the easy ones to train...

I've got a pretty good method to make them quit, and it works 100% of the time are they still alive? no. Unless I have no other choice I try not to own a bulldog with no manners. Hard to beat or shock sense into a grown dog. Raising them from pups helps, but it seems like for me it's an automatic death sentence if I raise a cd from a pup.

I would think that you would train one much like you would a schtuzhund trained dog, if you want them to behave and not whine. Saw a video I think someone referred it on this website of a guy that raised his pups with the wild baby pig, seemed to work well for him. Not everyone has patience to raise and train one like that when in the back of your mind he may parish to the tusk of a big boar. I have even heard of a fellow that had a couple of pits that walked beside his horse while the other dogs where out hunting and they didn't go in to catch until they were sent. It can be done, most want something now, again one that behaves like we are talking could cost money and with a short life span most do not want to pay. I hate it also, I go with my son and friends from time to time and they have a pit that will not shut up and it irritates the sh!^ out of me, but he is a nut catching machine on a moving hog.

I have one that is loud going to a bay. Gonna try the shock collar next trip out. I hate the idea of raiseing a bulldog but if I ever find the right pit pup I might give it a shot.
