Well the weather has finaly cool enough to hunt. Got up at 5am Monday morning and met BayCrazy at his house and we where in the woods by 6:30Turned the dogs loose an rode down the road past the catemurdul patch and in just a few minutes the dogs where bayed up down by the creek. BayCrazy looked at me and asked are you ready to swim? Undecided I told him no we are going to catch it on this side.
We left the four wheels on the road and took his catch dogs with us and ran to the sound of the dogs. 300 yards later we got to them. Both of us where out of air. The boar about 140 to 150 lbs was backed up into the creek turned the catch dogs lose to seal the deal. When the catch dogs hit him it pushed him of into the deeper water and now every body was having to swim.Dogs where going under so we jumped in to keep the dogs from drowning. The hog made it to the other side but the dogs where keeping him in the water.
Now we had to swim across.Rubber boots are not the best thing to go swimming in.We both liked to not made it.Both BayCrazy and myself lost or cell phones,he lost a pack of ciggs,I lost a new can of cop, and my Old Floopy cowboy hat. Angry
By this time the hog was in a tree top that had fallen in the creek. The dogs where trying there best to stay with him but they got tangled up in the downed tree top.One dog got out (BayCrazys Tracker dog) and had the hog caught. We got the hog stuck so now we had to swim back. Tongue
We made it back across but the hog stayed on the other side. The only thing that my wife was mad about was the loss of my Old Floopy hat. Shocked

This is a pic of the little boar that we got this morning. We keep him to train puppies with.He is about 45 or 50 lbs.

Man oh man, I bet getting out of that water was worse than getting in!  Definitely a little cool to be swimming. Good story though, sorry about the hat.

O Mr. Ronnie!!!

The loss of an old hat like that is tragic!!!
Good hunt and good hogs!!!

I found my old felt hat two weeks after I lost it on a creek when I was 17! I still wear it to this day when its cold! Dont give up on it!!!

It is always eventfull when we go to the crapemurtles.. .. It always seems to produce good hogs but i know we will end up in that creek.
Have yall ever seen the hogs dive under the water away from the dogs? This one looked like a duck and would go under and then pop up a few feet away. you should have seen the confused dogs ...lol

Well boys, I hate it that I missed all this swimming and fun.....I miss all the good stuff it seems. Ronnie, man I hate that you lost your hat.....it takes years to get a good hat broke in right and it's a real lick to lose a good one. Glad y'all got out alive and no dogs hurt. Thanks for sharing.

Never saw a hog do it on purpose. Thats pretty clever and doesn’t surprise me though.

Every time I get to thinking I have seen it all from a hog they do something like this.
