Well, see, here was the deal. Mom and my cousin Kelly went with me. Mom was gonna have me snubbed up to my older gelding that's a been-there-done-that horse so there wasn't gonna be any real danger.... Well, that whole "best laid plans of mice and men..." Yeah, my older gelding came up more crippled than hell bout 10 mins before the parade, so it was either load up and go home or see if I could make it through alive.... Well, we made it through alive, and she never even skittered sideways one time. I was quite proud of the broncey b*tch, ESPECIALLY since she really did buck like friggin h*ll for the first 15 mins on the lunge-line.

If she loves to buck and can buck well, I would sell her to a rodeo contractor.

Dj, first off, I don't really know how well she can buck because I've always managed to get her head back within 2 jumps but she is itty bitty to be a rodeo bronc, 14.5 hands tops, maybe 900lbs soakin wet.
The thought has cross my mind though b

tiny where are you located at , and has anyone ever rolled the steel to her when she was buckin ? around here if they act like a bronc they get treated like one .With that said the best horse i have was a spoiled cowhorse turned bronc 30 days of wet blankets he turned out to be a great horse work a cow all day try to buck a man off when you first get on him but you can pile the kids on him all day and he want even hump up so some just need to be taken a hold of and shown how good or bad life can be

Redtick, I'm in Fairfield... No, no one has tried anything except me lightin her up with splits.. I can't ride one that bucks, never have been able too... I would LOVE for someone to take and try to kill her for a while and see if she'll make a horse, but I don't have any more money to spend on trainers...

Tusk, who said anything about Ace? I have never used Ace on anything. I have used Xylazine, but only on a horse that wouldn't stand for clipping, and that was after working on them for 4-5 hrs trying to do it drug free. I think it is totally stupid to ride a drugged horse, they don't have the reaction time they need to keep you out of a jam....?
I'm not in the round pen anymore, or haven't been anyway, we haven't been in a round pen in months, but I think I am gonna try some things that a friend mentioned trying to day, and see if it makes any difference. This is her last shot.

I think what she needs is for an outlaw that dont do nothing but hunt to keep her for about 60 days.

Does she buck every time, or could the bucking be related to her cycles?
If you aren't getting through to her and aren't able to send her off for someone else to try to get through to her, then I would seriously consider sending her down the road. Some horses just don't work right in some situations, and if you can't stop the bucking habit, can't get her to someone who can, and can't live with the behavior, then you and she will both be better off if you part ways. Some day hand who is able to really put her through the ringer on a daily basis may find her very useful with her cowy breeding. Then you can move onto the next prospect and spend your time working on something you enjoy.
One option you could explore is giving her to a hand in exchange for a certain amount of riding time from him on your next prospect. Sometimes they are more able to use their riding in trade rather than to part with cash that is increasingly harder to come by these days. Everybody wins in that situation.
Cheers M

Mandy, I have said over and over, time again and again that I was gonna send her down the rode, and actually did one time. Sold her to the last trainer I had her with. He said he wanted her to make a broodmare out of since he had her 30 days and she was still bucking. Well, a week to the day later she was at a sale barn. Luckily enough the owner of the barn was a good friend of mine, and knew my filly, and he called me and asked me why she was there. I got there to look at her, and was HORRIFIED, and literally physically sick to my stomach. She had green pussy snot running out of her eyes and nose, and both her knees were the size of soccer balls. Well, I watched her go through the ring, and the only guy bidding was a known killer buyer, so I bought her back, quarantinned her, got her healthy, sweated the heck out of her knees, and today she is 100% sound.
I could turn her loose to someone else, but I'm scared that she will wind up back at some ratty sale barn with pussy eyes again... Call me soft hearted if you want, but it's taken 10 years and this mare for me to get over losing my old gelding.. Dunno what it is about her, but as much as I hate her, I love her that much more.
On top of that, I don't know any ranchers, or true cowboys anymore... All the guys I know are weekender rodeo guys, and they don't want her for sure.
