In the market for a ATV, and nobody would know better than you guys about the bikes. Wondering whats junk and whats not, looking at 400-500 cc bike 4x4 electric shift. I know HONDA 's should be good, but what about YAMAHA, SUZUKI, KAWASAKI and POLARIS. Your input will help alot. I have a 1992 MULE and its to big and clumsey, seems the newer UTV's are alot better at the woods , whats your preference ATV or UTV?
thanks , Paul

Had a kawasaki 360 prarie it only had high and low range, no shifting. It was a good ride, but the next thing i'll get is a utv. I would ride with guys who had them and they went every where I went EXCEPT between tight trees BUT they could haul lots of stuff when I had to pull a trailer. It didn't take me long to wish I had bought one of them instead. Now I just don't know what brand to buy the RZR looks good so far

We have an 05 Honda foreman ES , although we have not treated it very kind it is still going strong. We also bought a Rhino this time last year, its fun and comfortable but a little noisier, I am sure some after market stuff would fix it up, but for speed and power its nice, it is narrower than the other UTVs, a tad more ground clearance. don't really need the speed it has for hunting.

I got a suzuki 400 eiger, great machine. Badly abused with very little trouble. Then also have a polaris 330 magnum, have had lots of trouble with it. The utv's are great, but you can get the atvs alot more places. Especially in brushy country. The top gets in the way. Wish I had a utv, but would always need to keep a atv also.

i have to ride one everyday for my job, and i go where ever it will take me. i have a honda foreman and wouldnt have anything else now, mines a 03, when it wears out i'll get one just like it with the ele. shift and independent rear sep. i have had kaw's (racks had to be welded about once a week), artic cats (broke the frame at 6 monthes and it was so loud you about couldnt stay on it), suz's ( the one i had was just a lemon, my dads seems to be alright), as you can tell i might be alittle hard on a atv but the honda is doing good, i have had to replace the brakes and boots on the 4x4 shaft is all

I put over 6500 "HARD" miles on my Honda Foreman 450 and they thing finally fell apart around me except the motor. It still cranked right up and didnt smoke at all. My ranger has nearly 2000 miles on it, but I drive it a lot on the road around crops and I am fairly decent to it as far as taking care of it compared to my Foreman and I have replaced belts, rearends, cv joints, on it totaling half of what I paid for it. The Honda Foreman is about a tough a machine and practical as you can get for hog hunting. I wouldnt get ES though. Standard shift is much more practical and lasts longer. JMO

I recently replaced my stolen suzuki 750 with a Polaris 850. The polaris has plenty of ballz but to be honest, i would rather have my suzuki back. it was a beast! zero issues with it.

Im trying a Polaris Ranger right now but I have always had a lot of luck with Honda wheelers in the dependability category! They have just always been reliable for me.

Wondering whats junk and whats not, looking at 400-500 cc bike 4x4 electric shift. I would scrap the eletric shift and get a standard shift.

Ive got a honda rubicon 500, electric shift 4x4 on the fly that i bought to abuse. Love to go mudding and running through the woods and didnt wanna use my truck, got it used from a girl whos kids beat the hell out of it before me and its a champ. Ride with some friends who love their polaris but when going through deep water or if they get good and stuck the drive belts slip and smoke. As far as UTVs go i have no idea, other than id love to have one... But this thing really really takes a beating.. Video from a trail ride in the swamp.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWiheterosexually challenged-UpNk
