Didn't have anybody to go hunting with me this morning so I load up and head to the island alone.  The dogs didn't hit the ground good and jumped one.  He ended up swimming the river but thanks to my new Garmin I was rite there and stopped the dogs before they got in the river.  Jumped the second hog and they bayed it up in a briar patch on the edge of the river. Just as I was getting in catch dog range the hog broke and headed for the river but my pups put the brakes on him in the edge of the water.  They had him rite up against a steep bank and I figuredi wouldn't be able to handle him down there alone as there wasn't much to stand on , so I chained up my bulldog and grabbed my trusty 17hmr.  I layed down an held the barrel rite on top of his head.  I pulled the trigger and he dropped and started kicking.  In his kicking fits he pushed himself rite off the little ledge he was on into deep water and started to sink.  I clambered down the bank and slipped in the. Clay and fell in the river.  By this time the darn hog had sunk and I couldn't find him.  So I loaded up and went home with two cut dog, a cold wet but and no hog.
Any bod y want to go help next time?

Well atleast the dogs don't have major injuries and you have a good story to tell now.

LOL. I go alone too often myself and yes, I keep those stories to myself most of the time!

I will bet most of us have plenty of stories we choose not to share on this board because folks will probably not believe them or they are just a little too embarrassing.  Grin

I definately have a few stories that I would think twice about before posting up.

Johnf. If you brought your dogs down here on flat ground they may not want to go back to those hills

Be careful, I have gotten myself into a few binds going by myself.  Well almost always get in a bind when I go by myself.  Sounds like you got your blood going nonetheless.
