Well I had the best hunt of my life on saterday afternoon. We took Dylan(Myson) hunting for his first deer to a friends place near sulphur springs. This was a FANTASTIC place and probally the best all around ranch i have had the chance to hunt. We arrived at the ranch saturday around 1pm where we meet Micheal. He took us to the cabin that we stayed in and it was a really nice place surrounded by beutifull trees and peacefull sounds. After making a loop aound the ranch and seeing the spots and checking game cams it seemed as any spot was as good as the next. So that afternoon we elected to hunt a big green wheat field which has never been hunted as most of the ranch. So we settled in around 5pm and we first seen some hogs at the far end of the field around 530 and while watching them i happened to glance left and there was already 8 deer in the field, 3 spikes and a 4 point and 4 does, they were still pretty far so we just watched, and had quite the show, the bucks started fighting and it was neat to see. Well the next 1/2 hour was pure excitment as deer after deer entered the field, when i quite counting there was 32 deer in the field with two nice 8 pointers but too young and there was more still coming out i figured we had 40+ deer at one time, so we finially got Dylan settled in and i had 4 doe to the far left at 150yds but we were loosing light so i told him to find one that gave him a good shot and let her have it. He asked to shoot her in the head I told him no and shoot her where he was supposed to. So he settled in and BOOM, i heard the bullet slap, and his mom was with us and she said he got her, and he looked at me with them blue eyes and i will never forget he said, DAD i shot her in the neck.. I finially got my first deer. I was so excited so we eased out of the stand and made the walk to her, the first thing i checked and wondered is where he hit her cause she droped and he is shooting a 223, well to my amazement he hit her right in the neck I couldnt have done that.... So we got a couple pics and me and him got her out. When we got back to camp it was time to gut and i told him he shot her he had to gut her. So he was really excited to do that. I cut her open and got everything ready and he did the dirty work draging the guts out and making sure she was cleaned. He now said he is a pro hunter and is ready for a big buck. As for the ranch this place is TOP notch.
