Joel Halverson USN FTG3 USS McKean DD784. 72-75 I get to say that I shot a bigger gun than most as I got to pull a trigger and 4 rounds at 60# apiece were fired. (N)ever (A)gain (V)olunteer (Y)ourself

What was it, a 4" deck gun? I been on 1 naval boat, which was mored at port. It was a battle wagon, cant remember the name but it was in either miss or bama. I used to b on a 155mm self propelled howitzer. Its rounds weighed a hefty 100lbs with fuse and no powder.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!

I would like to send my and my families most sincere thanks to all veterans and those currently serving to protect our freedoms. Today I am especially remembering my grandfather who retired from the Air Force. He was a b-17 and b-29 radio man in WWII and I loved listening to the stories he had to tell, no matter how many times I heard the same story, and even though I now think he really didnt like to tell them. And also my father who served the Air Force in the Vietnam era, although he never got shipped overseas. you know whats a shame ? we are deployed all over the world protecting the freedom of others and we loose more and more freedoms at home everyday , pretty sad state of things here at home ............
I couldn't agree with this quote any more. But with that said I think that we as free Americans still enjoy 99.99% more freedom than most others in this world. And that is all due to the men and women who are fighting to protect the freedoms we still enjoy. Thank you very much!!
