I had a dog that was bred by Blue Sky. He was a good looking dog. Can't say anything else good about him though... I don't know if he is a representative of what Blue Sky produces, if he was a product of his upbringing, or if he was just a cull. I bought him as a 3-4 year old dog, I hunted him for a solid year, saw virtually no improvement, then sold him back to the guy I bought him from. He was dog aggressive and would not hunt out past about 30 yards....but did I mention he was good looking I have a much different opinion of how to handle that type of dog today, than I did back then. Today, that dog would have been put down, or at the very least neutered so that he could not pass on those traits.

I had one from them and he was kind of skidish so I sold him to a buddy of mine when he was a pup and he seemed to come out of it. He said he was the best dog he ever owned. He didnt hunt but he sure did bay a cow. I know a granddaughter out of him and she is a jam up lil pup. They have some good dogs from what I hear. Check out their website

Hey Stephen, if you are wanting pure bred catahoula's, I would give Amos Mann a call at 2 Diamond Catahoula's in Wills Point TX. He has a litter of pups on the way that should be good woods prospects. Another person to consider is Reg Skain's in Monroe LA with Backwood's Catahoula's. He has a 150 acre wooded pen where he trains dogs and I've heard good things about his his line. Shoot me a pm with your # if you want some more input, but these two are a good start. Should be able to google either kennel and look at there dogs and get contact info. If you contact Amos, ask him about his litter out of Shiney and his Rascal son, tell him Britt Garcia told you about them. Hope this helps you get started. Britt

I have a nice looking dog out of Blue Sky and basically he is nothing but a gritty help dog.He is 3 yrs old and stops to pee on something every 40 ft and is always worried about where I am so he wont venture out over 200 yards. The dog has an awesome nose but will not use it to find hogs but I bet he could track me down a mile away.I have tried to lose him before and he will find me everytime.I am about to be hunting in Paris soon so if he doesnt click pretty soon he will have to go.The only reason I have hung onto this piece of crap was that the last 4 year old dog that I gave away ended up turning into one of the best dogs I have ever hunted.I also have to agree with CircleC on what needs to be done with a dog like that and will happen if this dog doesnt change by the summer.

I used to feed there dogs for them when they were between Fairfield and Streetman Tx. I also helped them move to Elkheart. I got a black and tan cat gyp from them when I was 16 and she was a jam up little dog she was finding hogs when she was nine months old, but she was the only dog I had at the time. Needless to say while I was at work one day she came up MISSING. I know another guy that got two pups from a different litter and they both turned into good dogs. one was grittier than the other but, both would find and bay there own hog.

I've got a gyp pup from them this fall and she has started like a dream, I am very pleased with her. I also know of a couple of other dogs off their yard that are doing well. I think a lot of it depends on what you actually want in a dog and getting one off of parents that are closest to what you want...jmo

I have hunted with probably 50 of these dogs and out of all those dogs I saw 2 that were decent and one that was a sure enough hog dog.I think the odds of hunting with that many pieces of crap that all came from the same kennel is unbelievable,I think you could go to the pound and get a bunch of young mutts and you would have had better odds. There are too many other really good Cat kennels out there to gamble your money on.Lets face it you are gambling with any kennel but I think your odds of turning out a good dog from that kennel are very, very slim.If I had to choose a Cat kennel to buy from Mr.Mason's yard has turned out too many good dogs to mention.

That is the only thing I will give my blue dog is that he is a real good looking dog and he hates hogs so bad he is almost suicidal. He is all catch once other dogs do all the work of finding a hog.

Looked at their website...didn't see anything discussing what venue the dogs were worked or pictures of the dogs working. What exactly makes them the best? Not trying to be an azz, just wondering...
