We have these geese every year flying south (actually, flying in circles) over our place in Frio County. They are way up there, and noisy as can be. I'm wondering if there's any shot at calling them down from up there. Someone said white sheets in the pasture and a goose call, but I don't want to go through all that effort if they can't be called down. Any chance of it?

I get crazy bored down south during the day when nothing is moving. So bored, I might actually try to get the geese down.

When conditions are right. Wait for a windy rainy day and they will be lower. you use plastic garbage bags tied a certain way on a stick so they move in the breeze. Then you also have to call well especially if your wanting to call them from high up. there not looking to sit down but can be talked into it with a little work.Goose hunting is fun but lots of work and little reward. we normally put out 400 to 500 rags in the spread. but sometimes less is best later in season.

I'm thinking clay should come help with this experiment. That way, I don't get labeled as "that idiot girl trying to call down south texas goose migrants". Clay, how are you with long drives?

50 miles south of san antonio, 100 miles north of laredo. I doubt the birds will come down, but I am going to try a little later into the winter. I need to check out when it is legal to actually shoot one of these geese. We were going to go on a guided goose hunt last year in Katy. It was $125 and included your transportation to and from the fields as well as the opportunity to limit out on your bag. It may be much more fruitful for us to do that instead. Would be fun for a group of hog doggers to get together on a deal like that where you know you won't be stuck with a group of stuffy yuppies who are worried about getting muddy. At least the company would be good :O)

You guys weren't at the Tee head of Sand Hollow Rd, were you? In like a "dove camp" over a grain field?
