I have a 3 year old Cat that thinks he has to stop and pee about every 50 yards and this is just one of many things that irritate the hell out of me with this dog.Any of you ever had a dog do this? The only reason I still have him is because he is really rough and will grab onto the hind end of a pig if it breaks, other than that he is pretty much useless. He has a great nose but wont use it to find hogs, only me.He also cant stand being to far away from me which is what really bothers me.He wont be with me too much longer if he doesnt wake up.

Well I the last dog that was getting on my nerves was a 4 year old that I gave to a friend turned into one of the best dogs I have ever seen.I have owned many dogs but have never had one that I absolutely hate like I do this one.I must be getting soft because just a few years back a dog like this wouldnt have lasted one day with me.I am going to be hunting some hog infested land up in Paris so this will be his last chance,if something doesnt click in Paris that will be his last hunt if you know what I mean.I understand a dog getting bored and fed up on my lease looking for hogs but where I am going to be he has no reason to be worrying about me,he should be ripping the woods up but Im not to hopeful because of his age.I have owned coondogs ,rabbit and deerdogs and this peeing thing is a new one on me.Not only will I never own a dog out of that kennel ,I will never put my dogs on the ground with other dogs from there.

the old catahoula in my profile pic almost always used to spend the first 5 minutes or so peeing and posturing at other dogs but would fairly quikly dry it up and get gone, the few times he has worn a garmin, it generaly shows him around 600 yards away making circles. what im getting at is even though he was long gone, he may have been doing nothin but peein far away the only reason he leaves the county when i drop the gate now is that i leave him home most of the time. maybe your dog is not understanding that hunting is a privledge

And if it was do or die ...So to speak in paris i would turn him out on his own and have a "heart to heart" with him.. Oh yeah and the peeing thing..lol someone told me long ago if you got a male that pisses all over everything to tie a sock over his back and under his pee organ so it holds it to his stomach.. eventually hell get tired of pissin on himself. never tried it though..

This is the main reason i dont like males, most males i have hunted with do this, which is really natural for a male dog to mark territory, but it drives me nuts. I would rather have a female thats more interested in hunting than peeing. I have also seen 1 female do this too.

The best way to stop it is neuter him. If you drop him in fresh sign that he can smell will he get gone on it or is he more worried about pissing? If he's more worried about pissing I would cull him.. Or if you wanna spend the money you could try neutering him..

I believe you hit it on the head, this constant pissing thing is a Male Doninance thing! LionBoarHunter said it best.....I dont have three or four years to see if a dog is gonna make it or not

Mex you better quit laughing at me I took him out around Center this morning and he did way better but still not up to my standards. After they caught a hog he was all business until he got tired.I really dont see him making it with me but like I said if the Paris trips dont turn him on he is history and I dont mean for sale.To be honest this dog is so rough I didnt expect him to live this long,he is a smaller dog and is insane when he gets on a hog.I have sold dogs like that to the baypen guys before and was totally honest why I didnt like the dog,the problem with this one is that he is all catch.I think he somehow knows his fate because he actually hunted decent this morning.
