I have been trying to get out and hunt with Cole for quite some time now and looks like it is finally gonna happen. Michael (TXHoghunter) sent me a text last night with an invitation, I hit him back and told him I would call him this morning to let him know, well I got busy grinding sausage and forgot so Cole sent me one to remind me and Im glad he did I had forgotten. We are on and will hopefully have some good pics to post later. Oh yea, if anything bad happens to me it was Michael and Cole that did it...... Well here is the story...... I left Plano at 4:00 PM Got back to Plano 2:00 AM...I first got to Pecan Gap, pulled into the parking lot, rigged my dogs up, put on my wadders and set in the truck and waited on my host to show up. After about 20 mins. I got a call from Michael asking if I was at the school yet? I told him I had been there a while now. He asked if I saw Cole I said no and he told me Cole was at the school waiting on me turns out I was in the front parking lot and Cole was in the rear.....we were about 40 yards from each other the entire time.....lol Went to Michaels, he was loaded and ready to go so away we went. Got to the ranch and as we pulled in we could see lights shining up out of a steep ditch on the left side of the road, as we approached a kid about 15 years old came out of the ditch and told us he flipped over his 4 wheeler and asked if we could help him....after about 40 interrogating questions from Michael (former CIA Agent) he tells the kid "Yea I guess Im gonna help you...BUT...I dont want to catch you back in this ditch again".......You have no idea how funny that sounded. The kid promised he wouldnt do it again so we got him out and he dissapeared. We cut the dogs loose and they hunted all over the ranch...I will save some time here and simply tell you despit the serious effort on the part of the dogs the hogs had dissapeared too. after about 4 hrs of hittin it hard the dogs left hard and fast. I took Fred and Michael had D Man and two pups after a bit I showed Fred bayed at 999 yds and Michael showed his dogs the same way, we listened a bit and could barely hear them every now and then so after a quick map recon Michael said he knew where they were, just 250 yds off a road, so we head back to the truck with the 4 wheelers load up and start driving toward them. We stopped about 400 yds out and hear nothing but still show them bayed, so Fred being pretty rough I told Michael they were probably caught. We pulled up even with them on the road and when we stopped we could hear them baying again started in with Max and Coles new Bulldog, it was a big open oak woods, they were down in a creek hammerin away, cut the CD's loose at 40 yds and they smoked him! It was obvious that after 45 mins to an hr of baying this hog (by the time we got to them) that they had caught the hog several times. We tied back the bay dogs broke off the bulldogs but as a parting gift this thouroughly perturbed hog decides to clamp down on Coles Pit's foot. I thought the best thing to do was let max hit the hog again thinking it would cause the hog to let go of the dog but that didnt work. Michael finally kicked him in the top of the head and pulled him off the dogs foot. Cole wheel barrowed the pig around for a few pics on Michaels camera. We called it a night. You know you dont always catch a dozen hogs but I will tell you the dogs hunted hard, covered alot of ground, and got it done when it counted. I had a great time hunting with Michael again and it was a pleasure to finally meet Michaels new girlfriend Cole....lol I think Michael will post pics tomorrow, his baby was asleep when we got back.......  If you dont know Michael Woodall and Cole Newsome, I tell ya they are two first class fellas and alot of fun to hunt with! |

Another thing is, I believe Michael is a one man's man?  maybe...Im just sayin and Cole is stickin pretty close  |

Thanks Micheal and i will take you up on it a few more times this year i hope, even though i dont have any more dogs (that know what a hog is) i sure like to watch em work... Maybe we can get Raider to go when i come, that way if it gets dark he can carry me back to the truck. |

Are those invites available for short mexicans, If not I can buy some bigger hunting boots? Just kidding Txhoghunter Hope that puppy works out I know it's not the one you asked for but quite a few came out deaf. I think I carried Elliscounty out a few times from hunting with Tom in Emhouse Tx. Covered alot of miles with him. I think that's what ruined him from hunting so much,and having to buy a pair of new pant's every weekend from losing weight or swimming creeks. |
