im new to forums, but want some input on this.i have a red cur that i`ve hunted from a pup she`s 5 years now. My best strike dog she is everywhere will bay loose, will not catch, lots and lots of go. Thinking obout breeding her to a english pointer thats is a long range bird dog, excellent dog can go all day wide open. The pups will hunt i know, but i want more nose and range. I have culled many pups and i dont want wast my time or hers. thanks

To me bird dogs have lots of energy and never stop hunting! But like Raider said!! They never have to cold nose a quail out and trail him over a mile! But there has been some good dogs produced out of bird dog cross's!

thanks for the input ive hunted hounds alot i like the cold trail but in nw ar, ne ok we have hills, big ones, so i sold the hounds and went to curs. i like the style of curs but they lack the nose and i hoped the pointer would ad to this. however i do like curs coming back not going to the next zip code bird dogs seen to the same.we trie to hunt high and use the updraft as much as possible.thanks
