W-tate. My dane/pit has gone out to around a thousand yards with my cat and caught a decent sized sow. I want a dane/pit female so if you know of any breedings please let me know. I would love to breed one to a friends Campbell cur which is a line bred bird/bull. He is straight catch. He weighs around 50lbs. I think a cross like that would have the potential to make some dogs that could do it all. The Australian Bull Arabs really get my attention except I don't want a long range tracker nor a dog that bays. I want a dog fit and trim enough to wear a short vest and be able to handle wearing it in the summer at night. I may just be wasting my time but I really think with time I can come up with something.

Also have a suppose greyhoundxdogo Looks the grey hound part and fastest dog ever seen but don't see any dogo but is prob 70-80 lbs depending on how he gets hunted and catches very hard was surprised gotta use break stick on him  Only pic I got right try get more Tommrow if any intrest |

we are on the same page buddylee i have thought about breeding my pitxdane to a gsp or a weimaraner or maybe the right ridgeback i have had lots of ideas my dog is still young will be 1 year old in feb he has tons of potenial but i am always thinkin about what i could cross him with i am hopeing wiht age he will get some hunt in him i have just now started running mine one the ground

Mine is several years old and has been hunted for atleast two. He hasn't found anything and doesn't really look for anything but he may just smart by letting the other dogs do the work  . I know of quite a few folks using night vision to catch hogs at night. A dog like we are thinking of would be great for that also. |

Here is my "big dog". This is Buddy. I don't know his breeding for sure but you can tell by his head that he is part dane. My guess is pit/dane. I use him as a lead in cd but have run him loose before and he has found and caught his own hog several times. I ran him loose in the corn fields last year when the pigs wouldn't bay up. He is my wife's favorite dog and a big pet. He sits on the front porch and talks to me every morning until I come out and feed him. I don't know how far he will get from me while hunting but I just got a garmin so that shouldn't be too hard to find out now. He weighs in between 90 and 100 lbs. And he loves to catch hogs!  |

I just started two cane corso x cur crosses. So far they are doing awesome. It was an accidental breeding, but it's working out so far. I have seen very few pups do so well at six months old. The father has endurance for days and if fast! I can't wait til they are a little older so I can try them in the woods.

Earlisbubba can you please PM me some info on how to contact you about that cross. i have been doing some research on the can corso and like that potential it has. Buddylee here are some pic of mine. The picture are a from last year so not current to date. The cat/dane is the fastest dog i have but the cat/mastiff is starting to get her feet under her and move pretty quick. Has anyone tried the right boer boel, they have different conformation like all the bully breeds. These dogs are from south africa and some can really get up and move and for long periods of time. The ones that are currently in the US may be bred more for looks than performance, when they where first being brought here Mr. Hines(american bulldog man) went over to see them for himself. I saw video of what he saw and they were awsome over there. Just offering another avenue, might be a little pricy to get started.

Boarwild, I like the legs and build. Look like they could move pretty well and not easily overheat. I had thought about breeding my dane to my catahoula once but wasn't sure how it would turn out.
That cash dog looks rough. Does he catch hard ?

my brother has a 60 kg dog (135lbs) and its a top dog its not slow it has the right breeds in it to keep it lean but big . my cousin has a 50 kg dog as well and its not as good but still gets the job done

Ive got a young dog thats 3/4 ybmc and 1/4bull mastiff but shes only 50lbs but shes got long legs and lots of stamina.

i think i posted a pic of my brothers dog on here somewhere on a post i dont have the picture no more . and the breed is bullmastiff x ridgeback x wolfhound x dane . my cousins dog is bullmastiff x harlequin dane and i dont have a picture of it . my cousins dog is more short and stocky and is almost waist high and my brothers dog is long and lean and waist high . |

I run a pitxbmc in the 80# range. He strikes his own, winds well,a bit short range,and is pretty hot nosed. If hes not strikin, there aint nothin in the area. Hes a bit on the border of what ill hunt any more. If he wasnt such a good producer Id be movin on. His biggest to date was 300 with no help. The help dog took a hit and quite. He gets it done ,but he takes a ride. My focuss has turned to the danes. Two thousand years of boar hunting lineage speaks for itself. The size(joints) issue mentioned previously has happened frm the show breeders. The origanal boarhound wasnt a 42' monster. They averaged 27' female,34' male. I hunted behinda dane that winded a from a mile,jumped three five strand barbwire fences,and cought a 400+ boar solo. Im sold till I see somethin better. Just remember to breed hard to hard. I woulnt weeken the dog by adding something that may bay. I have a 11month danepup that showed more nose than any dog in my yrd and never seeing a hog before cought a 60# shoat running past her at 5mos. Obviously I like danes but in my oppinion as long as the dog is tall enough to keep its front feet on the ground its not gona have nearly the difficulty holding(and surviving) the shorter dogs do. Boardogs is definatly a good site to see big dogs doin it. Hope that helps.

I also really like the danes. I have also noticed the part you mentioned about not really getting cut much. The only damage mine has taken is under his mouth or chin. I also don't want a really tall dog. I do like the idea though of them being half pit for hardness and drive. I have been looking long and hard for a pit/dane female to breed with but haven't had any luck. If it wasn't so much trouble I would post a pic of my dane/pit. He has a good build and doesn't carry much body fat.
