Has anyone here ever had a dog that was bleeding from his penis?The dog did it while on a hunt and I believe he somehow got it hung on barbed wire.This happened a week ago and the bleeding stopped before we ended the hunt but I went out to feed them earlier and noticed it was bleeding again.The dog will go to a vet as asap but was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get the bleeding stopped for now?This is a new one on me.Any ideas?I know dogs have to have some pretty good veins there for it to function but after a week I would have thought it would have stopped by now unless he is aggravating the wound somehow.

Bullmaster, injectable vitamin-K is very good at helping to stop bleeding in hard to reach places. My vet got me a script for some and I always carry it in my cut box.

I had the same thing happen about three months ago. My cur just started pouring blood out of his penis, it stopped and happened again in a couple of days so i took him to the vet. I told her what was going on and bam he did it right there in the vet office. So she pulled his sheath all the way back and found a cut about three quaters of an inch long. She gave me some antibiotics and told me to keep him calm, no hunting. He needed to be away from other dogs anything that would excite him. That was the only time it blead. It took a couple of weeks to heal. When it blead it looked like the texas chainsaw massacre, but it never phased him. Healed up no problems since.

tractor supply had a blood cloting powder for external type wounds, or u can try to find quikclot, same thing used my military and emergency services or u can use cooking, self rising, all purpose flour and gause wrapping for a quick fix till in the morning.

Thanks for the info,I took the dog out this morning and he bleed one time and that was it.I will try the vitamin K and report back on how it worked for me.
