After the Wounded Warrior Hunt on Saturday, Jesse Paul came to the house for a couple of days of hunting the pineywoods. We started out on Sunday in Huntsville where we caught a nice boar shortly into the hunt. We hunted towards the back of the place and the bottom fell out on us several miles from camp. Got back to the trucks and called it a day because of the weather. This morning, UNDERDOG joined us on a hunt to catch some of these "easy" city hogs. We roaded the dogs for several miles with no luck. Got back by the lake and decided to cast them into a block of woods. Mine, Bryant's and three of Jesse's young dogs went left and his Jet dog went right. A little while later, Jet struck and the race was on... shortly went off the Garmin's radar. All the other dogs cast a mile deep, so we waited a while to get them all back in. Jesse was a nervous wreck the whole time cause we were so close to civilization. Got the dogs back and spent the next couple of hours tracking to Jet, to determine how close we could get to him... the old tv antenna came in handy today. Finally figured out he was pretty much over a mile from any where we could get to him in the trucks, we unoaded the 4 wheelers and headed out... that was another adventure in itself. Jesse took Paint and Striker to send to him to put some heat on this hog cause he kept baying and breaking. Finally got within 500 yards, had a bay for a minute and sent the other two dogs. The hog circled back and headed towards where he came from... off the radar again. We went that direction and finally picked them up a couple of miles back towards the lake. Got about 600 yards out and had a steady, slow moving bay. We slipped in to a 100 yards, saw the hog and sent Tink and Shiner on their way. Got him caught and killed... 5 hours after he jumped. Them dog's of Jesse's made a helluva showing today... we sure had a good time. It got hot and Jesse had a long drive ahead of him, so we called it a day. Sunday's boar... Today's boar...

Fellas, 5 hours spent putting an end to a bad runner like that is as good as catching a half dozen within an hour in my book! A hog like that will let you know what kind of dogs you have thats for sure!!!
Good hogs too! Im amazed that JP would even get that close to a big city. Poor fella probably needs to be on meds now! lol

Nice hogs there fellers. And even better dogs. Its always nice to see your dogs stay an one and get his butt caught. That sure makes a feller proud of his dogs. I would LOVE to get to hunt behind Jesse's dogs some day ! !

Not that you don't already know but sure does feel good to see the dogs finish something like that. I'm willing to bet there are only a handful of dogs like that. Good post and good pictures.

Hey jp, why is my pale faced dog not in those pics?
Sounds like a good hunt guys. I know you all had to be worn out afterward, but job well done. He sure was a wooly booger!

That's an awesome chase. Not many dogs with that kind of bottom in that kind of terrain.
