That snow sure makes for pretty pictures! I saw on the news that this may be a record snowfall year for tulsa.

How do the animals not get frostbite on their legs? I'm just not very snow savvy.

Cheers

Mandy, it's only pretty to look at if you dont have to be out in it. the first big snow last week started out with an inch or so of sleet. i sure hated to see the ice sickles hangin off them crossbred cows ears. we have had a few calves born lately and looks like there will be some froze ears on em. last night was around 13 below zerow, their callin for 2 or 3 below tonight, but 50's-60's this weekend. that'll melt it all off then we'll get to play in the mud for a while instead of snow. years ago we had some frozen feet and tails on cattle and one time had a bull lay down and freeze his equipment to the ground. Shocked OUCH !!! had to cull a big pretty bramer cow last year cause she couldnt walk good on frozen ground. hopefully we wont have anything worse than frozen ears this time. i remember a week or 2 ago, some threads about keepin dogs warm in cold weather. mine have survived 10-15 below nights latey in plastic barrels or wooden-tin-roofed dog houses with just plent of grass hay in em. got 2 pups 3 & 4 months old in separate pens that made it just fine. snow is  deeper than they are tall. Cheesy

Man o man that is pretty and depressing all at the same time. I sure hope y'all get thawed out soon and get everyone healthy and home from the hospital. Just the extreme cold we have had is enough to be a real pain. We will all enjoy reading back on these posts in august haha

What do you do when a bull gets his business frozen to the ground? All I can think of is that hound dog on Joe Dirt that got his fellas frozen to the porch.

Great pics. Those kids will remember that sledding for the rest of their lives I bet. Making lots of good memories despite the foul weather.

Brafords gone out of style up there?  A young fat cow can hold up to the extreem cold liike we've had these past few weeks, but it sure is hard on the poor old gummers.

haha, no i actually got around pretty good even though i need some tires with more bite to em. i had been making about a 10 mile circle everyday feeding, and had been the 15 miles to town once, all the while laughin at all the cars in the ditch. dummies, dont know how to drive. then about the 4th day after the first snow i turned the corner and my front end hit a rut in the ice and the left front tire slid off in the ditch. i probably wasnt goin 5mph.  it was so slow motion that i thought about jumpin out, gettin in front of it and trying to stop it! i shoveled out and backed up about 10 feet and the left back slid off. Sad a guy came by and hitched on to me, and another guy hitched on to him. they had to pull me about 100 yrds to get back on the road.  the ditch was only about 1' lower than the road, but the drift was about 3' deep. i quit laughin at people after that Grin
