Does anyone hunt with the ladner bloodline and if so how do you like them. Or does anyone know anybody that hunts with that bloodline. I have an 8 month old that I've started in the pen and did great from the start. Haven't had her in the woods yet. Just wondering what others think bout this bloodline.

ive got an 18 month old full bmc ladner. he hunts reall good and bays real tight hes already starting to go on his ownhes only struck 1 pig but he does good. i like the bloodline alot.

Well thank you. This is my first ladner. My dad drove up to missippi and got her as a pup from Curtis ladner. Once I get her goin good I plan on gettin another pup from him. Like yours she bays real tight and I was very impressed. I'm eager to get her in the woods. I was wondering what others thought bout that bloodline before I get another bc I don't see it talked bout that much.

The way I see it if they can trail a coon and kill it you can make a hog dog out of the same dog. Probably as good as the best ones. |

That's how I got turned on to that bloodline.my dad used to hog hunt when I was real young but switched to coon so I could go along. Im 24 now and gettin back into hogs. For coon he got to love the mountain view cur from mike bloodgood in Kentucky. Good dogs on coon but I think the ladners might out do them.

Mtn view curs are Kemmer mtn curs. Mike Bloodgood broke away from the kemmer and went on his own. I like the mtn cur but just like all breeds not all turn out. |

I'm no authority on hog dog bloodlines by any stretch of the imagination,, but I have a Ladner male 15 months old, as far as starting him, at four month he seen his first shoat without ant hesitation he tried to tear the cage apart to get to the shoat. Has yet to trash on anything. But he has been slow to mature, I was getting a little dis appointed with him then in the last 45 days he's made alotta progress,,and my dog like to hunt by his self will be real short range when other dog are used. I also have a female 1/2 Ladner / 1/2 AB she just 6 month and has started well. Both dog's are very trainable. Im very pleased with mine so far!! Good luck and hope she turn out for ya.

Thank-you. I'm still trying to get some dogs together since I'm just starting out again and don't have any dogs to take to the woods and run with her but in time I'm sure I will be pleased with her.

I had a real good looking one for a while. Drove almost to Kansas from southeast texas to buy him. He did rral good and was a good long range hunter. I had wormed him and he was very healthy and then all of a sudden one day he just died. Still haven't figured it out. All my other dogs were fine. Just kinda makes me shy away from expensive dogs. All my other dogs have been free and you couldn't kill them if you wanted to. They eat chicken and fish bones everyday, play on heavy machinery, mix prescription medication with alcohol...

thats my dog on curtis ladners web page on dogs on hogs. he has plenty of hunt and is pretty dang gritty caught lots of pigs with him but gets cut up quiet a bit.

That's cool. I know what pic your talking bout. I remember seeing it.can you tell me why your dog gets cut up a lot. Is it the way he bays or reflexes too slow or something else? And just curious but how many other ladners have u had?

he gets cut alot because he is a little on the gritty side. he will back up and bay but its normaly after he has sized him up. i have had 5 sent from them but down to one. 4 from lh ladner and one from his son which turned out to be a decent dog not near as gritty but not what you call loose either. as far as putting mouth on track mine diddnt but i had a litter out of him and a bitch i bought from someone else which was a ladner dog and they yipped after pig broke.

Well I think she will turn out good. At 3 months old I let her out had seen a squirrel in the yard lil before that and she followed the trail to the tree. Talkin bout bein open on track Idk yet. My dad has a 10 year old mountain view cur coon dog. She's semi open on coon. Decided to try using her in the bay pen to train another dog. First hog she ever saw bayed good. Decided to tie the hog and drag it for her to follow a trail. She winded the hog and went straight to him finding it. Did good.kinder slower on track bc of age but she was silent on the hog when she would open on coons.
