Buddy of mine set up a hunt on their company deer lease near Mason, TX in McCulloch County. I called Richard to bring the fire power and he met me in Lampasas. We picked up my buddies, some booze, food and headed west. First thing we drove through was about 50-60 deer heading to the camp. No big deal...we hunt in deer all the time.

A few of the guys had never been and Im sure didnt know what to expect. One of the guys had bought a spear wanting to kill a hog with a spear.

We did all our introductions, loaded some beer and got ready for the hunt. I explained how a typical scenario should go...blah blah. We dont get 300 yards from the house and my Jagd, Luke, bails off, hits deer and runs it into a tank. Right in front of us all....we watched the whole thing.  Evil Pull up a ways...and kick the dogs out. My other Jagd Sis gets an armadillo. Great start and we are looking good!  Grin

It wasnt long we got all the piss and vinegar out of the Jagds and got into the hogs. Hunted saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Ended with about 20 total....three or four taken with guns...and countless shoats...the rest with dogs.

Most of the pictures have my Jagds because Richard's dogs would bay, the Jagds would catch and the curs would roll out to another hog...all afternoon and again sunday. We had to literally drive down to stop Levi on sunday.

First time dogging and first kill

I talked them into leaving the spear on sunday...thing made me nervous  Grin

Jack, Levi, Bocephus and the Jagds.

We made a quick run on saturday night. They had a 100 acre wheat feild high fenced. We creeped down to the gate...hit the spotlight and and kicked out the bulldogs....thats always a blast!

Almost every hog we caught had color

Richard didnt know we were staying the night. Him trying to do some explaining to the wife...the next day

Good to see jagdterriers on a hunt like that.  The rocks and cactus is a different environment.  Rough country.  My jags dont "roll-out" or relay to the next one either.  Nice looking jagdterriers!

Good hunt fellas!

I told Richard you were gonna comment on that.  Grin I promise there is no shortage down there. I'm gonna say 60-75% of the ones we caught or saw were either black and white or brown and white.

Great post and pictures.  Those hunts are lots of fun...  But that spear, I don't know about any of that!

I agree...I was s little uneasy Grin
