Made it through several weekends without bumpin' into a bad one out at the ranch... we had the feeling it was about that time!!  Grin

Got to the ranch at daylight and was already muggy hot... dropped Shine and Lee's Camo dog out, they bumped a couple hogs and Shiner ended up bayed by herself on this boar 500yds later... Grabbed ol' Bucho and we eased into the bay...

... as we came within' about 40yds, we could see Shine baying a good bit off of a tall, bristled up boar backed into some brush... every few barks she'd take a peak back at me, almost "smiling"  Grin ... like, "how ya like this one?".... Grin Grin Grin

Cut ol' Bucho to him(finally a bad enough hog to test his metal), and(I'm still tickled about this part...), Shiner actually BACKED UP A FEW STEPS as Bucho went in for the grab!!!  Once he hit, him and the boar helicoptered a couple good rounds until Bucho got his feet planted good and ONLY THEN did Shine grab the other ear!!!!  SHE'S FINALLY letting the CATCHDOG do his job!!! Sorry, but that has always been a major stress for me  Grin

Bucho finally justified the ungodly amount of feed his big ass requires today...  Grin  He was precisely the type of dog I needed for this particular situation and he handled it like a pro.  Him and SHine really made a good team today!

Good mature boar, Bucho, me, and SHine.  Had he been just a smidge bigger I'd of mounted this one, good and wooly to boot!!!

The meatheads mugged a 100# boar after that one that was a perty good race, Shine bayed another hog about 10am but she was already smoked by that time and ended up falling off and we bailed before burning the dogs up in the heat!

Restin' up tonight, gonna hunt a new ranch in the morning... 8K acres of good hogs... no dogs on the property in 20+ years.... should be fun!!!!!!!!!!!  Grin

Good Boar Noah, you don't need one all the time, but when you need the big white dog they are pretty handy.

That's a good looking bulldog you got there Noah.

You need to vest him up.

Congrats

Shine's stand out elders are all one-dog-shows... just how a lot hunt down south... one bay dog and one catch dog.

Not how I prefer to hunt... I like 2 bay dogs and one CD.... more distraction to let the CD get a good shot... but I'm not gonna fight genetics... hard ta get another dog to stay with Shine...

These aren't "chase them till they decide to bay" dogs... these are "run to stop the bitch" dogs...  often rougher than I'd like, but when the stars align... just right...  Grin
