A friend of mine in Utah has a red BMC gyp . He got her from a friend that raises and hunts bear with his , and says she is out of a line of dogs from Alabama called Murphy . I told him I had never heard of them, but that dont mean much, and that I would ask here to see if any of y'all had.

So, any of you know anything about the Murphy line of red BMCs out of Alabama? Good , bad , or otherwise?

I've heard that Red BMC's go back to old Alabama blood, suppost to be big headed dog's that can be gritty, I never heard of the Murphy line, but like you with me that doesn't mean much, Just what I've been told, prolly Third hand onfo....so I wouldn't bank onit..

Hi I'm new to the forum.  I read it a lot but I am new to posting.  Bobby I don't hog hunt but I do waste a lot of time on the internet looking at dogs.  I am 99% positive the Murphy's dogs are Howard bred.  If you go to blackmouthcur.com under the breeders list for Alabama the Murphys and Steve Howard are listed with webpages and contact info.  I would think they would be able to tell you whatever wanted to know.  Hope this might point you in the right direction.

War Eagle, I went and checked out the site and found Joey Hutson in Louisiana and he has some Ladner bred dogs as well as the old Nolan Strain. Some of these BMC should make some awesome hog dogs...

Lynn has been doing some digging too and told me the dogs are Howard  lines but the guy his came from is named Murphy.

Confusing I guess, Murphy bred Howard dogs.

Thanks y'all.
