With summer coming I was just wondering how you guys hunt or if you hunt in the summer?  Last couple summers my hog doggin has become pretty scarce to not at all but with a new job coming and working for a guy who has taught me alot about hog hunting i think thats about to change.

I hunt all year, i just slow up some in the summer.  Night time or ealry morning only and i hunt places that have mostly oaks on them, not allot of under brush.  East Texas is hard in the summer with the under brush we have.  Not worth a dogs life.

Only if i had a Riddick Dog!  lol

Hunt at night or a few hours before daybreak. If your dogs are conditioned and acclamated to the weather they should be fine in the heat, but there is always a chance of them having a heat stroke.

What he said... that underbrush can sure keep the heat in on a dog... I think lack of wind is the killer when it's hot

Depends on where you are. Down here it gets hot. It also depends on the dogs. You also have to worry about gators down here. I hunt at night and Amy sign of gators I don't hunt there for a while.

very good point... leave the dogs with too much stick at the house when it's hot...

Just make sure you keep water there and give it to them between runs or switch out your dogs while they cool off.
