So we decided to make a run after the rain we had gotten Tuesday night. Me, Rooster and Nick Jones loaded up our dogs and headed to my lease. The evening started out purty bad. On the way over their my CatX got bucked out of the back of my truck and hit the pavement going about 55. Luckily he was ok, Thank goodness. Then got to the lease and was unloading the 4 wheeler out of my truck when the ramps decided to come out from under it. Things were not looking good for us at this point. Got the dogs loaded up and went about 100 yards from camp and seen a sow and little pig tracks. Turned em loose and they had her on the run. I guess she just out ran them.lol They came back and went another 500 yards up the road and let loose. Ended up catching this lil sow. She was about 70lbs. First one we had caught in over 2 months.

While we were tying her up in the woods I look over and see a deer head. This is the one my mother in law shot over 2 years ago. It was about 300 yards from her feeder. Its just so thick in their trying to blood trail a deer its almost impossible. He is a purty nice one. It was about 6 feet away from where we were tying the pig up at.

So I had some good luck and bad luck all in one day. It was a fun hunt. Ready to do it again this weekend.

x2 Hope your dry spell is gone for a while. Smiley

Most of us write about the hunts when we catch a pig or two and not about the dry runs Smiley

I say the chances are better than average. A hog hunter usually beats the bushes and gets in to more places than a deer hunter does. I have found several deer skulls from wounded lost deer from the previous season.
That's a great find after two seasons though! Good deal!

Thanks. Yea he is a nice one for around our place. That's the biggest one my mother in law has shot at and man she sure was happy I found it for her. She is going to do a European mount when she can.

Is it the way that hog is lying or does it have a long skinny head? I aint insulting the confirmation of your hog, only asking because i had a sow some time back show up on game camera with a head shaped wat appears like that sow. But this sow was real poor, hip bones poking oit and such, only sickly hog i've seen out of 30-40 pigs i've gotten pictures of. No obvious gun shot wounds or other injurys, sorry, i'm hijackin your thread, I'll post pictures when i get home and see wat ya think

Yea she did have a long head. She was kind of poor also. We usually have healthy hogs at our lease but this one was a lil on the poor side. She died this morning for reasons that I don't know. She may have been sick or something
