Spare me the BS. Show me the hog.

I figured I would share this with ethd. I am raising some pups out of my Levi dog bred to a line bred gyp out of a good line of dogs from Buffalo. They are getting about old enough to start working with them a little more, so I decided I would take them to the lake and let them get some exposure to the woods and overall just see how they would act.

The lake is low, so I drove my rhino all the way to the back and low and behold if I didn't get stuck.... Not bad, but it wasn't budging..

So I drop the pups off and its straight to woods and they're gone... Second mistake..

I go ahead and call a buddy to pull me out and wait for the pups to HOPEFULLY show back up.

The pups show back up after 10 mins or so and my buddy wasnt far behind...

As soon as my buddy shows up the pups go on a rampage and make a b-line to the water and are bayed up solid.... On a stump

After baying for a couple of minutes they did something that I didnt want to see and caught out.  Grin

To make matters worse, they bayed another stump on the way out.

And started to b-line towards another until I called em off.

I not real sure about the young dogs....

Reminds me of my old GSP . He pointed the same prickly pear leaf in road every day we hunted.it was funny he was very adamant about it. We spent a lot of time watching him creep up oh so carful not to flush it.

One of my young ones, Spinner, bayed a 6' tall blown down cave by herself for 30 minutes when she was 6mnths... had to go leash her up to get her off.. she was convinced she'd bayed the biggest hog she'd ever seen!!  Grin

Catchem....did it squeal when they caught it? Gritty pups I say....to tackle a full grown stump like that. I say that's better than running from it like it was a big booger of some kind.

Let's see... The pups rolled out and they bayed a stump and then they went to bay tight or to catch it... and did it in the water...I will have to say the pups are on track to being hog dogs... Smiley
