With the popularity of a recent hog hunting show, and the claims of how dangerous hogs are I was thinking about serious injuries involving hog dogging. But I can't think of anyone killed while hog dogging. I have seen a few serious injuries, one where a momma cow got on the hook and worked a hog hunter over, and another in Louisiana where a hog hooked a guy pretty bad, but never a fatality.
Anyone ever known someone to die of a hog hunting injury?

A few years back a guy was killed around Cuero while hog hunting. He fell in the river and drowned.
I have seen serious injuries caused from hogs, but no deaths. The ones I have heard about were not caused by hogs but ATV or other types of accidents.

My fat outta shape, deer running dogs are killing me right now! I've had some close calls but they were not caused by a hog. 3 wheelers, horse, and rivers are more dangerous to me than a big boar is.  |

Yeah there was the man that got cut by a big barr a while back on here, got cut behind the ear all the way up on top of his head. I know of vehichle related fatalities but never a hog/human interaction that cause more than some stitches and antibiotics.

I have heard stories of guys getting femural artery cut and bleeding out. Maybe somebody can have the facts on that rather than being an urban legend.

Ive heard the same thing about 20 years ago. Supposedly it happened around Franklin, Tx and the guy was rifle hunting.  |

I saw a guy get cut inthe femural artery at a bay pen, did not take but a second to loose a enough blood to make him colapse, and needed an ambulance to haul away. Boar hog hooked him inside his thigh. I think its very easily done, and not all that far out there potential cause of death

I know a guy who is on here at least once a day that got his finger bit off by a hog. I know this to be true cause I watched it happen. I aint gonna call any names or point half a finger but he goes by hog hunter 57. Lol

Haha yeah it almost got him. Had to be careflighted out of the woods. He is about to be on a new reality show on A&E with him his son Robert and daughter Crystal. Anything can happen with that crew....Cant wait |

x3 snakes are my biggest fear also. you never see them till your standing right on them or in waist deep water then your snake boots do you alot of good lol... |

A tiger stripe brama cow nailed a buddy of mine while we were hog hunting. My female had bayed a hog quick and took off as soon as we caught it. She bayed another a long way off. We crossed one bremuda pasture and were in the middle of another. I was in the lead with the tracking transmitter and Brian (the guy that got worked over) was leading the bulldog. Another friend Larry was behind Brian.
This herd of cows came from a long way off and there were not any calves in the area. They surrounded Brian (I guess because he had the bulldog) and he just dropped the lead when it looked serious.
A big one charged and hit him at the knees and threw him straight up in the air. He came down on hit head and shoulder and was knocked cold. The first lick she stomped him in the side of the head with her front foot. Then she tried to gore him and then stomped him with her back foot.
Larry beat me to the cow and bulldogged her and then I got between them and Brian and shot my 45. They backed off and we kind of had a mexican stand off. Brian was out and bleeding bad. We found a pulse and he started to come around but didn't know jack. Larry called 911 and I took off running to get the side by side. The cows went to the end of the pasture, went through a gap, and hemmed me up 2 more times before I finally got to to a fence. I had an extra magazine out and had shot in the air the last time. Next time I was going to start killing cows.
I got my first aid kit and got the bleeding stopped and rode on the dash and held Brian's head up because it was hurting so bad. Finally we met an ambulance on a ranch road and they took him to the helicopter. He had a fractured neck but not broke. I think he spent about 4 or 5 days in intensive care and missed about a month of work.
Brian came mighty close to meeting his maker that day. Anybody that walks across that pasture is taking their life in their hands.
