Let me get this straight on L3. They learned from some Aussie that caught 115 hogs in 15 hours. That is a hog every 7.83 minutes for 15 hours. I am going to have to put an eyeball on that before I believe it. He did not do it with a Great Dane either.
The only way they could possibly do it was to be in a pen or enclosure.
I beg to differ. I know a few hog hunters/ranchers in Hempstead Texas that had numbers like that this past Spring. No pen or enclosures. They bay and shoot over a few curs and Plott hounds though. Ive hunted with them and they are probably the most productive and hard working hog hunters I have ever hunted with. If you are lucky, they might even break for lunch if you have food in the woods with you. |

Only time I killed that many hogs in that short of time was with a 12 gauge and plenty of buckshot shooting out of a helicopter.

Well to me it don't matter how many hogs a guy caught in one day cause I know a place that can make a number 2ty hog dog good. BUT the real point is how the in hell has L3 stayed in business for 15 years!!!!??? I mean how can you charge some for hog removal with the way they remove? We all know TV show can be BS and blah blah but there is truth in the show and show how you do your job or whatever it may be. They spot light for the dogs and etc. I mean to me if I was paying this guy to get hogs off my property he would be fired real quick!!!

Ok, so I went to L3's website and decided to send them an e-mail and tell them what I thought about the show and this is the reply I received from them: Think outside of your box please. If we sucked so bad and everone else was so much better then why have I been able to stay in business for over 15 years without being able to produce. When you sign with a film company they tell you what to say on the show and you don't always get to choose what you say. It's bloody TV dude you know they are going to put drama BS in it. There's alot more to life than BMC's and Cat's. Take a look at the link I included this is the guy that taught me how to hunt and until I see a US pig hunter kill 115 in 15 hours with two dogs I will keep listening to the Australian pro's they havent steered me wrong in 19 years. http://www.boardogs.com/ Huntingphotos12.htm This is awesome  5 or 6 years ago L3 was on here with cur dogs. Take the 15 years claim with a grain of salt... In 2006 he was a professional spear fisher, using the name L3outdoors/ Whitecustomguns. Then he put out some bow hunting videos, and finally settled on hog dogging. He's good at marketing, kind of like the rest of the crap labelled "As Seen on TV"  |

Didn't he learn spearfishing fromthe Aussie riend too? so maybe thy hog hunted by night and spearfished by day until hewas aproffesional and hen came back to TX, Golly Gee Wizzz give that guy a break, I mean if you read the blog on discovery channell its all about How his Wife is the hog hunter!

I think due to the hog population epidemic Discovery Channel tried to show hog hunting with dogs in the most peta friendly manner they could because when you have a show like this you can't deny the effectiveness of dogs. The few hog hunts I have seen on Outdoor Channel they skipped the catch completely. They went straight from bayed up hog to dead hog in the back of the truck. I have watched 3 episodes and I cant watch anymore because the commentator repeates himself 20 times a show and the commentary is the exact same every show. I believe Discovery set out to help the dog hunter but the show comes off goofy and to rehearsed and I personally don't find it the least bit entertaining.

That is probably correct W.E. .....They probably trying to show the problem of hogs and the removal in a good manner. Its the bs from the groups, staged catches, tied/pen caught hogs and lack of drive in the dogs....not to mention the crazy comments. The reason the outdoor channel doesnt show the catch is because the are gutless. The outdoor channel is worried about anti hunting groups hate mail and bs. They do not show impact to any exent. No arrow or gun shot impacts and that includes the dogs and stick. Every show has the kill edited out. The pursuit channel will have lots of good shows coming up this next season. They show all impact shots and pretty certain you will see some good hog hunts with catch dogs coming it for the catch....not to mention the stick. |

Bump thats exaclty the point i was trying to make. I will never completely understand what goes on in tv land. On Deadliest Catch you can watch Phil on his death bed dying and thats good tv supposedly. But on the other hand you can't portray hog hunting with any type of integrity because that bothers people. I would rather watch a well trained pack of dogs doing what they have been bred to do for 100s of years than watch a man die but thats just me.

If so please.............please!!!!!! If it happens to be someone on this board. Do not sign your rights away in the contract like these others have!!!
Hire an experienced lawyer and read the fine print!!! Ofcourse, if you don't care about nothing but the money then I guess the fine print and the rights of other dog hunters won't matter!!!

The fools that signed up for this show have already been around this block before... and saw the backlash from the hog dogging community when they were interviewed by a reporter in south Texas. They, L3 , did what they could to make pack hunters look bad... Then a couple years later they signed up for this show... You only get to cry foul once. The second time it's your own damn fault. They can say all they want about being misinterpreted, when in reality, they knew full well what they were signing up for.  |

Agreed. I personally wouldn't be on one of those shows doing any hog hunting either because of the backlash.
Speaking of that.....on the last episode, I thought that I was going to have a heartattack when one of the men from Hawii was trying to get the catch dog off of the hog and first he was karate chopping at its nose and then he grabbed the dog by its ears and was trying to pull it off...... I was thinking, great, this is a big help to us all. :'(

As usual I had it recorded to watch it when I wanted and fast forward thru the BS. This episode I think I watch maybe 3-4 minutes tops. Just cant watch it any more. I
I dont imagine my opinion carries much weight any where, but I think back on kind of being chastised a while back because I have only been running my own dogs for about a year. ( never mind I have been hunting for about 45 ), but I watch what is being shown on TV, listen to the " professional commentary " and I know that even if I am the rankest of beginners, there is no way I would do the things I have seen done. I hunted with buddybegone and some friends back in the 80's and I hunt with txmaverick now. We did it the same then as we do now. The dogs do the hunting and we are there to help seal the deal. And I know that is pretty much what everyone else here does as well.
I just dont understand even if Discovery is writing the script , what are they doing?
