Well if life gives you lemons just add vodka so i would actually run him with a cur/pit dog rcd and work them on small plots of land. real good on runners cause they will hold him there till more dogs arrive. just my 2 cents on how i would handle it.

Sounds Like a good dog to me, wouldnt try to break him, i would run a breastplate on him if he is a rcd . sounds like mine except if mine get wrecked he will back up and bay and wait till my pit/cur gets there then he will slam the hog again... HE HATES HOGS /

I would use him as a catch dog and turn him loose after the bulldog is about half way to the bay.
I would also use him as a rough stop dog with the pack and see how it works out.
If he is this rough at a year old he can be made to back up by putting him on a bad boar but he will go back to getting rough after a month or two.
You can change the spots on a leopard but he is still a leopard.

If you have an e-collar use that. I have an extremely rough black and tan catahoula dog that I used an e-collar on. When I first started him he wouldn't bark once, he would just run in and catch. After using the collar on him in a pen a few times he.learned that I wanted him to bay. He learned to bay and only catch when the catch dog got there. I gave him a long break (about a year) and when I took him to a buddie's house to do some work in a pen he was back to catching again and I don't have an e-cooler anymore so he still just wants to catch.

I would just run him with my other dog. I don't own a bulldog. I like em rough the rougher the better. More bite less bark. They get enough ivory stuck in em they usually learn to back up & bay until another dog gets there. Usually being the key word in that sentence |

Hunt the p**S out of him and keep catching them hogs. If he doesn't learn then the worst is you are still catching hogs! Them rough dogs are alright in my eyes. They start to learn how to steer clear of them cutters more and more.

x2 One of the best catch dogs I've ever owned was a double registered cat. The only difference was that he couldnt smell his own butt in the dog house much less hunt a hog.  If he is not working out to the style you are trying to hunt him, you can always make a lead in cd out of him. In my experience, a muzzel never works. It is not a correction at all. Only a barrier. A fence that a dog wears on his face so to speak and a waist of time on a dog like yours. Like that aggie says......"let him be what he is gonna be". If he is not working out for you, let one of those rough dog fellas have a shot at him. |

I tried this he ran in and caught the biggest one. I had to rope him to get him off and tried again. He caught the same hog again. There was even piglets in the pin and he wouldn't even look at them. I'll be hunting him again this week. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks guys for the feedback. |
