Just kidding about the opinions....I'm actually gonna rely on them. I have a Parker/Bmc bitch that should be coming in soon. She's a brindle dog around 8 years old. Hunts close, but when she strikes she will leave the country. If she gets on a sure enough runner you better have packed a lunch. She will hamstring the crap out of a hog to try to stop it. She does everything perfect except she hunts too close until she strikes. My buddy is trying to get me to breed her to his best coon dog(walker) thinking it will add range to the pups. The walker dog barks once when he strikes and is silent til he trees. My buddy showed him a hog when he first got him and he went ballistic. He shocked him off, but that was after he bayed the tar out of him for a while. I know breeding is always a crap shoot, but do yall think I'd be better off breeding to something a little closer to her breeding or the walker?

If the walker looks right and his sire and dam are good hunting dogs that don't bark much on track I would do it if I wanted nose and range.
Or, I would breed her to a real good Parker.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

Go to the Parker website. You should be able to find a stud there. I know where there is one in Durant OK . If that is not to far for you pm me and I will give you his number.

Just me talking but what does it matter if your dog only hunts 100 yds out if you road them. You will eventually cover the 800yds in a matter of minuets in a vehicle. Now if you walk thats a different story all together. Last of all you must have the land to be able to hunt.
Anyway sounds to me you have a great dog that has tons of bottom, in my book that says more than a dog that will go out 1000 yds and not produce a hog at the end of a trail.

I'm located around the Tyler area. I just can't justify spending money on a stud fee when there are hog dogs all around me. The range thing doesn't bother me too much, but I mostly walk hunt so it gets annoying when I see her every few minutes. I think I'm just partial to the Walker idea b/c my best dog as a kid was a walker/pit. If anyone knows a way to just clone her let me know haha

I don't really know where she came from other than north Texas. I really don't even want to deal with a litter of pups, but I know I need to while she's still young enough. Who knows if the age we were told is even correct, she might be 12 for all I really know. I will prob go ahead and breed er to the walker. I haven't seen to many cur/hound crosses that woudnt work at least a little. Thanks everyone.
