I was wanting to know if any if you guys have this cross, and if so could you give me some input on it. The reason I'm asking is because I was offered a 1/2 BMC 1/2 Walker qyp that is a good dog with a great nose, a lil gritty, the only thing is she can get semi open on a hot track or if hog breaks. I have access to a great BMC that is a good producer of working dogs, he is cold nose and has tons of bottom, also gritty. I guess what i really want to know if your dogs open up any and if so how much? Thanks in advance

Dont personally have the walker cross but have one with redbone and a couple with plott and they are all somewhat open. they usually yip or squel on a hot track and bark running behind a hog. but i don't believe thats the case with all of em. I haven't had the privlage yet of hunting with a hound or hound cross that is completely silent though but ive heard about some. Lot of full blooded curs do this barking also though. Guess it just depends on the dog, how much it is hunted, and what kinda dogs it is hunted with......

To answer your question, ive raised full blood hounds that have been silent on track, depends on how you hunt them and what they hunt with.  I would mix that cross without a doubt and you shouldn't have any issues with them being silent if your other dogs are.  JMO

That's what I have noticed with the gyp the less my buddy hunts her the more open she gets. As far as my other dogs and the ones that my buddies have they are all silent so I think I might have a good chance with this cross. Around hear if a dog gives a hog a warning you night as well go home!

I got 1/2 and 1/2
She has plenty of hunt! She won't give up. She found first pig at 5months and only getting better
And quieter
She will yip when hit hot track
Opens when sees the pig but when pig is out of sight she silent.
I would tell everyone that asks that there assume cross
I wanted to bread back to cur but had a better idea
Bread her to a English pointer.  Lot of grit with size and less voice
And alot of wind.

What they hunt with and just sure luck as to one being open or silent.  Had a litter of 4 half mt cur and half red bone, one of the 4 was open.  Don't hunt hounds but this dog gave mouth on the move, but had enough bottom that he would get'm stopped eventually.  Didn't hunt open dogs and sold him for $300 to an individual that liked open dogs in big country in south texas, he called back wanting more.  Some luck, just a chance you take crossing with hound, I would think quarter would help getting silent.
