Reuben, I'm with you on that. No matter what we throw at them, the hogs learn to survive.

X2 Reuben. I have posted on this subject a many times. You sum it up for me nicely right here.

Just the pressure of running dogs alone, hogs learning to run to survive... deer don't stop and bay.

Dogs that run them a few minutes and quit... hogs learn they can get away.

Rough dogs chewing on their butts... I'd run to if something bit me on the butt.

Loose dogs not putting teeth on a hog, but running it for hours.

I say it's all of the above......plus Like Reuben said, they learn to survive no matter what.

Hog's survival instinct has to be faster any other animal to me, the chopper guy's over by me last year in May  spent no more than 20 min. to flush a group of hogs out of the bottoms east of me, in April of this year it took almost an hour and a half for them to get the hogs to leave cover and run out in the open and as soon as the chopper would crest the trees into the open the hogs would U-turn right back under cover, Last November they chased a group of 16-18 hogs across 1000yds of open farm land and shot 13-14, So to me the chopper guy has educated the hogs to not use the open ground to run in..
