The first every month I give all my dogs a small tooth paste size of Horse wormer Zimecterin gold for 3 days straight then the following week I give them 1/10th of a cc per 10 pounds of ivermec. I don't use the 1% I use the one for sheep and goats and Its like .3% not 1% like the cattle one.

I don't do anything for ticks or fleas but I like to know what everyone else does.

I have done it this way for a long time and have not lost a pup... I am always looking for ways to save money. Grin

At 2 wks I worm pups and mom with strongid paste and do it every week until 8 wks and then as needed maybe once a month until 5 months old.
The dam is back to grown dog schedule when pups are weaned off of her.

At 7 or 8 wks I give a 7 in 1 plus corona shot under the skin. This shot should be called 8 in 1 because of the corona in it. Whatever you do make sure it has corona in it or you will lose some pups...

Give a second shot of the same 3 to 4 weeks later. I have also given 1 shot and it has worked but it was with pups I wanted to experiment on that I really didn't need and they were ok.

At 4 to 5 months you can take the pups to the vet for their rabies shots if you live in Texas because that is the law here. Other states may let you give the rabies yourself.

After the rabies shot you are about finished with the routines and can more or less follow the grown dog routines with the exceptin that you want to worm them any time they don't look 100% healthy. You want to keep the pups parasite free so that they can reach full growth potential.

I am pretty sure you are supposed to give the Rabies once a year in Texas.

Years ago I would order them from a catalog but since Rocky's feed store in Brazoria is very reasonable I just buy them there.

Reubens vac schedule is very similar to mine except I use Nemex 2 which is the same as the Strongid!

I use Ortho Tree and Shrub for fleas and ticks, its the same as bayer but without the fertilizer and it is milky white. I just use 30 ml on a 50 lb. dog. I put it in a syringe and run it from their neck to the base of their tail making sure to rub it in all the way to the skin and reapply whenever I see em scratching again. It has worked well for me!

I give my dogs the normal vaccines which I get from my vet because when I buy them from him he keeps a record of it on his computer. If I need a copy of their records he will print them off for me.

The first of every month, I give my big dogs 1 cc of Ivomec and my little dogs about half a cc. That takes care of most everything. I give them Worm-X for tapeworms and to get anything the ivomec didn't get. Then I give them half a comfortis whenever I see a flea. That stuff is BAD TO THE BONE!!!! It turns them into a flea killing machine. Any flea that gets on them dies a painful death and it keeps working long after it's recomended!

If you love your dog, don't try to get by too cheap. Keep records of everything and stay on top of rabies shots and heart worm meds (Ivomec). If someone ever says your dog bit them you're responsible to show shot records or your dog can be put down.

Start with Strongid on pups at 3 weeks.   Take pups for shots at 8 weeks.  I have lost a few litters trying to be cheap and buying shots and giving them myself, take em to the vet for the shots.  When do you all ween the pups?

Yea I know but I really dont like to give 2 week old pups horse wormer! Worming them and the mom for 6 weeks straight starting at 2 weeks with the recommended dose has work good for me. JMO

There was a link on here a while back I used to buy Strongid off of, when I got it I started to put Ivomec in it until I smelled and looked at the label...it was for human consumption and smelled exactly like what we used to get from the vet.

I left the Ivomec out and use it for us as well as the dogs.  Nemex is too watered down IMO for the price and it is hard to give them too much Strongid....now if the puppies are too wormy and you kill the worms at once it does have the potential to clog them uo and make them sick, which is why it is so important to start them on a schedule at 2 weeks and keep the gyp dewormed as well.

I give ours 1cc per 5lbs, I will check the strength when I get home and where I bought it from as it was relatively cheap for the large bottle I bought.

Dogs are required in the state of Texas to have rabies shots every one year or three years depending on which shot they were given. But they have to have it a year after the first shot was administered no matter which shot was given.
