Hope I am not breaking any rules or laws by posting this here, if I am please delete this. But was just wondering if anyone here is or has been involved with...uhhh...."gaming chickens"?? Unfortunately, I met my wife about a year after these were outlawed in Oklahoma. Her father was really big into them around here before our great state decided to make it illegal. He made a lot of money off of his roosters from the stories I have been told. Just wondering if anyone else was ever into them. I wish it was still legal here in OK, because from what I have heard, it sounded like a ton of fun. Her brothers which live in Utah now still raise some birds and make trips south of the border a few times a years for some big money events. Just wondering if anyone here was into the same thing?

I recently got back into it. I went a bit overboard. I had very high quality birds shipped in from all over the country. I've got way to many, and need to trim down.

There's a few Hatch roosters tied around the double hub cap ranch here My neighbor was once the president of the Oklahoma Game Bird ass., he is 75 or so and has had game chickens from the time he was 14. He keeps 100 or so and tells me you can keep them, don't dub there combs until your ready to ship them or shortly before you " show " them. Most of his birds go overseas now and a few make there way here in the states to other folks who still " show " game chickens.

Me and my wife are also into game chickens. We have to many different kinds of birds. We have really enjoyed raising them. We also wished it had not been outlawed. Do y'all sale or bye any. We have a lot and have not had the time to spend with them that they deserve. We are trying to get into starting a wild hog removal company. And are dogs are taking most of are time. Maybe we can talk some time.

I watched a program on animal planet last night about predatory birds. It was bloody, gory, ruthless and danged entertaining. How is it the same people that put out shows like that in the name of entertainment would fight tooth and nail to keep rednecks, Cajuns, Mexicans and philipinos from watching the same thing live? Are they more civilized because they spend thousands of dollars and years filming the same things to put it on prime time Sunday night on a supposedly family friendly channel? You got good looking birds and a good looking girl, have fun with them bud.

Used to keep a yard FULL of them, I sure miss foolin with them, but my dogs were more important to me and just didnt have time to take care of roosters and dogs both, the way they needed so i got rid of my chickens. I kept a pair to run around the yard, a black grey hen that was my father in laws before he past away and my wife wanted to keep her, and i kept a bumble foot grey. So far that ole hen has hatched off 20 little ones this year. Those are some good lookin greys in that pic. She just came off with these bout 2 days ago Another grey i had Full Mclain hatch pair

I think its more of the government not having a hand in the winnings that made it illegal.

Cutter never realy met the man but I knew of him. Winning day money in Oklahoma was the High Lite of my game cock winnings. I also won several shows at the Bayou Club in La.

BIG BEN
|
I dont think there was a time growing up that everyday after school I had to feed and water 100's tie corded roosters at my families farm in California. My dad was into gaming real deep, he used to import birds from Guam for his breeding program and was at the worlds in arizona every year before all was outlawed. Ever chance I get to go to a event I do, they are still doing it hot and heavy in Cali, but ya have to know the main folks to even hear about a event. Lots of $ and trouble involved in Game birds.

Mr. Ronnie did you ever know a fella named Howard Bryant , he fought and judged a lot at Mid America. He is my neighbor and one of my best friends.
Most Game bird men I ever met were sure nuff good solid country boys, there birds were treated with superb care and respect. The people of Oklahoma voted to end Fights here on a Friday years ago, then Sunday slid there seat up to a table to eat a chicken dinner from some birds who were raised in little pens, full of growth hormones and treated with only enough care to keep them alive and grow so fast there feet could not support them. That's what happens when people in big cites who think food is all made at the super market vote on issues that they know nothing about. It made criminals out of honest good family people who have had these birds there whole life, Birds that go back to the same roosters that were fought in the basement of the white house. How far we have slipped from our roots. Well I'll shut up now cause it's over and done with anyway
