No not at all. My evaluation is based on avid hog hunters in my area that have places to run dogs still... Like I said each region will vary but on a overall level I believe my theory to be accurate Wink

I would say the avg dog hunter kills 40-50 hogs a year tops. Say the avg gun hunter kills one a year. By sheer number of gun hunters they kill more. I think that is what Monty was asking. On a single property dogs will catch more then gun hunters for sure in a years time.( I would hope so). I know people who catch 200 plus a year and I know people who catch a lot less. Also know gun hunters who kill (shoot) 200 plus a year and some a lot less.
I do both. I enjoy the dogs a lot more but I will also always like stalking hogs with a bow or gun.

I would say anything shot over a reasonable amount that Is meant to b eaten is not considered hunting... As hunting usually involves ethics and responsibility... Anything in excess of what Ur gonna b eating would b considered an eradication attempt who's is also necessary in some parts... There's a fine line between the two and for the sake of Gettin off topic Ill leave it at that. And 40-50 hogs a year with dogs is way off I'd say, added up that's 4 hogs a month... Not very many but then again I hunt 2-3 times a week or more... But I never kill them unless I'm gonna eat them so all the hogs I catch mainly don't count in this equation... So in that sense it should come out equally on both dogs or guns depending on how much pork u eat  Grin lotta factors could affect the real truth lol
