After catching a few hogs in Kaufman and meeting a few people me and the dogs went home and snoozed in the AC for a couple hours.
Met up with make-em-squeal and DFW out in the south hood of Dallas close to the trinity river. And when I say the hood I mean the hood, I kept my pistol in my lap waiting on them haha.
Well they show up and I follow them down to a little charity horse farm that backs up to the trinity river. We get dogs loaded on the wheeler and head out. Doesn't take long before the dogs strike on a slough. We send soco and grants AB from 200 yards out, it was so thick down on the slough that they sounded like dozers goin through to The bay and the sounder broke. Dogs went everywhere. Lacy ended up bayed about 150 out. We didn't know if the AB was caught with her and all the other dogs were 800 yards out and movin on the river. We tried to sneak in but it was thicker than almost antthing I been in. We get ten yards from lacy and can't see more than two feet in front of us. We hear a grunt and I get on a stump but still can't see anything. All of a sudden it gets loud and the AB gets tossed right near to where make em squeal is standing. He grabs him and we start making our was out. We make it ten yards out and lacy stops the boar about thirty yards further in the thick stuff. She is bayed solid so we decide to take the AB out, get him a drink and take him back in. Now were all together and we make our way back to lacy slowly with the AB and two young started dogs.
We get 20 yards from lacy and she is still Bayed solid. We cut the bulldog and the young dogs and they make it five yards and the bay breaks. Lacy and the hog go one way and the bulldog and pups go the other. Lacy stops him another ten yards in and really starts puttin it on him, the bulldog and pups come back and join the fight. Soco hears the ruckus and starts in from 700 out. We move in towards the hog not being able to see more than two feet in front of us. I somehow find the hogs rear end and get him legged.
Here is where the double stabbing comes in. The boy whos family owns the ranch is with us and this is his second hog, the first one was a shoat and this one is about 250. DFW goes to show the kid where to stick the hog, his hand is about 2 feet from the spot and he is just pointing and talkin. The boys adrenalin is goin and he Freaks out, rares back and goes for the shot...... HITS DFW RIGHT IN THE HAND!!!! It goes all the way through and slices it open and into the side of the pig!!! It got kinda awkward and I'm not really sure how to explain it lol, but I took the knife and showed him where to stick the hog by example.
We get dfw back to the truck and him and the boy go to the kids house to clean it up. Me and make em squeal go back and gather the rest of the dogs and head back to the ranch.
It was an eventful hunt and we got a good boar.
Dfw went to the hospital and had to get surgery, two ligaments and a nerve had to be repaired. I know make em squeal has some pics of the hog and I'm sure dfw has some pics of his hand so hopefully they will post.

Never have understood why some people feel the need to rare back and thrust the knife in like its gonna kill it any deader. Just slide it in easy in the underarm and twist a time or two.
I hope your friend heals up quick and I hope that kid had to sit in time out for a bit.

it was completely ridiculous and unnecessary in EVERY WAY! my hand was by the back right leg / stomach area when it was hit.... now i am having to type all slow and gimpy with my left hand. doc said i should regain full movement in the fingers but will probably never regain full sensitivity due to the nerve damage. will have the right hand all wrapped up and cant get it wet for the next 3 weeks. it was a good sized hog for sure. but I think since we were all worried about my hand, we didnt take too many pics and the only one that was taken was not the best shot. I will post it later. I dont have any pre surgery wound shots but trust me it was nasty and probably too graphic to post anyways. the knife basically cut down through the webbing between my middle and index finger kinda left the index finger dangling and not totally attached to the rest of my fingers... ended up with about 20+ stitches in the ER before I went into hand surgery about 12 hours later. now im feeling fine except for not being able to use my right hand. no pain though surprisingly at least not after i got out of surgery.
anyways it was a good fun hunt other than the stabbing part. you got some good dogs taylor especially that lil lacy dog. we should do it again next weekend... i will be good as long as its on a four wheeler and not walking through too much thick SH1T!

I sure hope that don't set up like that. It will look a lot like Brian's hand if it does. As far as your attacker, well I'd let him carry the hobbles next time.
