Just wondering....

   All of these posts about genetics and breeding quality dogs has me wondering...how many people on here have dogs that consistently produce good hog dogs when bred.  I realize there is always the debate of training vs genetics, but I mean the pups  that if they end up at a good hunting home more often than not are jam up dogs.  Just curious how many on here can say that.

i've been breeding hog and cow dogs for the last 10 years sold all the pups with a garanty till they turned 1 year old gotten two back and wasn't the dogs was the people i kept them a year and sent them to new homes working . i did alot of reserch on bloodlines before i started all this talked to all the old timers i could contact . i did all this long before i knew about or had access to the computerized world of hunting and breeding . if you get dogs from proven well established lines there is no reason that every pup will not perform with proper training . and most of all PATIENCE

Yeah Mike after I posted that I thought I don't want anyone to feel like they are bragging because I think humility is a good quality to have.  Maybe I worded it wrong....

I would have to agree, dogs out of a good line.... most should make some sort of dog... maybe not your ideal, but still produce hogs...

The blood I've been working with is the same, 9 out of 10 are gonna produce pork... a couple will be outstanding... and a couple will need to be culled.

thats what im talkin bout . every one is hung up on hog doggin me too but all this cullin cuase they dont like the range or what ever for hogs there's probabley been some darn fine cow dogs that never got the chance to show themselves cause they weren't good at  hoggin in someones opinion don't want to get off topic but when i cull for hog dogs i throw to the cow pasture

I don't want to come off as bragging because I'm not but my Jake dog throws real high percentage dogs, I crossed him several times to my June gyp which was the same blood only she had more whitworth breeding and crossed to another gyp that is a half sister... Several people own the pups some that are on here, and I've had very few complaints and none returned and several of his grandpups are top hands too I've heard.
He throws pups better than he is in most cases, partially due to the gyps. My old male out of the original line was killed and only had gyps out of a line I had been breeding for 15yrs and got Jake at 8mths which down the line was out of some of the same dogs, I started raising my uncles line of dogs near 20yrs ago I did not start my own line I simply started raising someone elses line that's over 40yrs old... Big difference technically but when I started raising out of Jake I just kinda started seeing them as my own line. In my opinion he is a proven producer and many folks want pups off him but I don't breed him much
