Just a friendly reminder to always be on guard when you hunt a place that has traps! I turned a pup loose this morning before breakfast and went on about my business, after eating and getting ready my wife and I headed out the door when she heard a dog screaming and asked me where Rosie was? Im took off running thru the back pasture and into the woods a few hundred yards to find her with her head stuck in a hog trap. Luckily it was a lil boar with no real teeth yet, so I reached thru and grabbed him and tied him to the side with my belt ( wich now stinks) and had to run back to the house to get bolt cutters to free her head! She is now safely back in her kennel and the hog still sitting in the trap for whoever put it there. I hope didn't get r pride bruised to badly but this is a crummy morning that I figured id share.

Cantexduck, its a piece of corporate land that a few folks lease for brush cows. Not my land not my hog. That's why I quietly left him as I found him. Im not an outlaw, sometimes my dogs are though Everybody else, I know, I got lucky this morning. I was just talking to a friend yesterday and trash talking this gyp pup because she won't get out on her own, time will tell. I only bring it up to remind young folks to be careful and as a refresher for the more long toothed gents. No dogs were harmed in the making of this crummy morning

So the real question is did you have a spare belt or stink all day? Glad the dog is OK. Sounds like lightning. That dog is always into something. I keep trying to get a picture but my camera has too long of a delay to get a picture of anything but a hound dog.

I stank all day, but I got used to it so who cares and as for lighting, you gotta come hunt with me soon, i wanna see her on a pig. Is she catchy? Rosie is fine, after cutting her loose she bolted back to the house, but this evening she was back to normal.

I've always let my pups have free range to whatever property I lived on, these pups however have been raised in the kennels and I bring them to my home and cut them loose on the cows. I feel this develops maturity and handle. This particular pup is not as outgoing as her brother or her kennelmates, so normally when I bring her home she stays on the porch until I pen her at bed time. I let them out while i "have a feed" So they dont poop in my truck on the drive to work where the kennels are. Hope that clears it up. And i dont know how you hunt but my dogs aren't always supervised in the field as dont own winged Pegasus tokeep up with them Have a goodun, im going to bed

Wow..glad she's ok. Her bloodline cant be made anymore. We lost her dad a month ago to hanging himself on the fence...we still cant figure that one out. He had to throw himself over that fence to clear the other side. Anyway, glad she is ok. She will be fine...her parents where hard willed and I am sure she will be too! Good luck and God bless her! God was really watching out for her today! Take care! PS...Im thinking that this is one of our pups ? Tonya & Justin Waterman

Don't worry T-Bob I will gladly speak up for the kind of charcter you have. I know you aren't a fence jumper because I have stood on a property line waiting for dogs with you. Now maybe some people have dogs that know what a property line is but I ain't seen one yet. I am just glad your dog is ok. Obviously slick don't know you at all if he makes a comment like that.

maybe its because we have alot more hogs that my dogs are not out out of sight without reason for too long. if i go for a walk and my dogs are gone for more than say 5 mins well i know its gonna be on very shortly. i do a bit of work from the rig too so the dogs dont leave the vehicle unless its for a hog. i wasnt having a chop at you either mate, just curious about how this unfortunate incident could have taken place. happy hunting.

T bob, that sounds good. It would have to be back to his mom cause he is at the top of our line on her side. All of our dogs started with your pups mom and dad. Just kind of stinks that we lost the sire and the female is getting a little old herself. Glad Rosie is back to herself...I knew she would be. Its crazy when a dogs blood runs deep. I am a firm believer in not breeding a dog that wont hunt, they gotta want it from both sides cause in an instance like this...some pups would quite. Take care and keep them pics coming... I enjoy seeing them little Annie and Scooter look alikes...lol They may not be the prettiest smutty yellow pups at the pot lol but i could pick them out of a crowd with them ears! Ttyl
