buddy of mine bred a bmc to a prison farm blood hound anh kept a pup. He was one heck of a strike dog. He was a red gold dog built right but had some pretty good ear.

He then bred that dog to another bmc which made the pups 1/4 blood hound and kept a pup that looked exactly like the sire.

He had to hunt these dogs seperately because together they would go for miles and miles on a runner.

Bottom line, they were silent and good strike dogs.

If you got either a high fenced place like 2000 acres full of hogs or 100,000 acres of open land to hunt and  took the time to fine a actualy hunting or mantracking strain yes they work for hogs, prob is lots should be fertilzer due to bred for showing and not tracking with proven man catches, the right performance bred dogs usually have to cold a nose and will start hog tracks from long gone hogs and end up miles and miles away, when the hog has just been there they do fine, but better have a huge place if you get one a 6 hour old hog if it was traveling thru, ones i tried stayed lost all of the time if it was cold track, they are huge, eat tons and slober all over you if you walk by when they shake their head in a dog box, you need to try to find a bllodhound source that sells to the FBI dog school or some police department that actually has confirmed and proven man finds or lost children or even a hunting strain out west where somebody is using them on a large rannch on lions and bear, they are usually over priced and over rated, i would try a catahoula, blackmout, lacy before i tired to master bloodhounds on hogs, they kinda not bred for anything anymore and they cold trail too much, i think thats why you see some crossing them to put tracking nose with a cur breed, Joe Rufus got given a bobcat bloodhound one time, it could smell a bobcat 12 hours before, was usueless as no other dog could ever smell the same track and it would take off and still be trailing when we were going home hours later, St Hubert Bloodhounds are still a hunting strain used to be some in La used on deer blood trailing and hog hunting in some parish, i dont thing they burned up the world for sure,
