Got stuck by a copperhead on the foot Friday night. Went to ER over night.   Anyway, anyone else gone through this and what can I be expecting time frame wise on getting better and things like that.

But they say the two snakes are diff and they said a copper head is not as bad so u should be good in a week

Very hard to say my pawpaw got zapped once and supposedly put some turpentine or kerosene on it and just sweated it out, but there's a girl in Conroe who's been fighting to keep her hand for several months now. Prayers for your speedy recovery.

How did you get bit? Bare foot, sandles or what?

It depends on how much venom the snake injected. They control it. Also how alergic you are. I had to carry a guy out to the truck that got bit by a rattler that did not rattle. If you are home you are not that bad. That bad being a relative term so do not think I am making light of the bite. The guy I carried out was in the hospital for about a week if I remember right and then he was allowed to recover at home. He had to have surgery to save his leg. I understand most copper head bites the pain lasts about a week or less. Then there may be tissue damage depending on exactly where it got you. So there is no way to know online. A Dr. that has seen copper head bites should be able to guess pretty good after seeing it. The dogs are better in about three days.

I gave a quick prayer for you. Hope you get better fast.

Thank you for all the info so far and well wishes and prayers.  Going back in tomorrow to get it looked at.  Kinda getting a little worried about it but we will see what they say.

I was walking in sandles when it got me.  So a clean shot.  Sucks because I usually always go out at night with the boots on.

That will give you a learning real fast. I bet you never go out in sandals again. When I am hurt I like stupid jokes.

Things I have said to people with severe injuries.

Just rub some dirt in it.

Run it out and stop crying.

Just stop your sniveling.

Rub some salt in it after the alcohol to stop the burn.

If you die I will never talk to you again.

It does not look bad if I ain't looking at it.

That did not hurt. I didn't feel a thing.

Suck it up.

If you puke on my back I will drop you. So you tell me before you puke.

Got bit on the hand by one when I was 15. It got pretty swollen and I had a headache for about a week. The swelling started going down after about 5 or six days and it took a little while to get it back to 100% and the swelling completely gone. Keep us posted on what the doc says.

Hope ya get to feelin better. My mom was bitten by a copper head when i was young she was in the hospital for about two weeks and suffered nerve damage in her foot. The snake that bit her was only about 6 inches long but it really messed her up. They say the little ones just inject all the venom they have where the adults conserve venom unless really provoked. How big was the snake that got you? Get well soon

Yea heard the little ones are worse.  This one was big for a copperhead so that is good.  Going to the doctor in about an hour so we will see what they have to say.  Thank you again for the info and well wishes guys.
