I'm in the market for a multiseat utility vehicle to use around the house and do a lil hunting out of. My mud slinging days are behind me and I like to poke along nice and easy and not put a vehicle to the test anymore.

At home it will be used to hual feed and other medium duty tasks, and on hunting trips it will simply be driven in lieu of my truck. Meaning I would like it to be able to get down a trail or two, but it will mainly be driven on good surfaces.

I've never owned either type of vehicle, so for arguments sake, which way do yall think i oughta go? Some of the ez-go carts have mud tires and an off road look, do they function off the golf course?

I use my dad's ez-go like it has four wheel drive  Grin It is light so it gets through stuff good. You can haul a few hundred pounds of feed to. It us just a plain cart. I bet the lifted ones would be great plus they are quiet too.

My kids call it the four wheeler golf cart.  Arctic cat 300 4x4 strecthed, with ez-go body on top.  Works great, got $300 total invested.  Quite with lots of power.

T-Bob,  Two years ago my dad contemplated this same question. He has a crawfish pond that is about 1/2 mile from the house. Good pasture for the most part to get to the pond. Once to the pond, then is on good levees. The only time it's really in the mud is when he's reworking the levee's and then it's no real problem.  He chose to go with the E Z Go Electric  Off Road type cart. THIS IS NOT a regular golf cart !  It has larger and more powerful Electric motor than regular Golf cart has. It has a factory lift kit look to it. He charges the batteries MAYBE once a week. I get on him all the time about not charging them every day when he's done with it. He uses it every day
365 days of the year. He goes to the pond every morning to check water levels and water qualities. During crawfish season he hauls a couple hundred pounds of bait to the pond and then hauls 3 or 4 sacks back to the house. You can get a bed for it. It will be 3 years old shortly.
This next part is the best part.  Since he bought it he has spent NOT one nickle in operating cost. Just charge the batteries. Oh, it
still has the original batteries.  He has not put a wrench on it. Not one penny in parts. When them teenage grand daughters come over the first thing they do is jump on the cart and hit the trail. I work on and maintain 7 regular electric Golf carts at a commercial Heliport. The quality of E Z Go is top notch. My only advise to you would be to buy new if you can. If you do buy use you have to be careful of them dealers hiding or covering up stuff. Anyway, just saying.       I sound like a salesman.

T-Bob it sounds like you might get by fine with an electric buggy,....EZ Go is a good brand it seems to me. I need a bit more of an off road deal,...about a year ago I bought  '04 Polaris Ranger that only had 164 hours on it. One owner....70 yr. old guy that treated it with care. I paid $4,500 for it....and yes that was a heck of a deal,.....but they are out there if you want to spend that much and you're not in a big hurry to get one. A ranger may be way outside of what you're wanting, but they are as tough as whet leather and not prone to breakdowns if treated right. Good luck whatever you choose.

They're out there....just keep your eye out....times are hard right now and folks are getting rid of the extras. You should be able to snag one for $5000, may take a bit of time but who knows....only took me about a week. Check out UTV trader online and any other websites you know of. Good luck bud. Oh.....and go to your local ATV place and let them know you're looking.....they know a lot of people and can help if they're willing.

One thing you might look at is a mule they are cheap and easy to work on.  Polaris is nice but for me I will when and if I buy go with a mule because it will be something I will keep for a while and if it does break down then it will be cheaper.  Know when the rangers break down at the ranch it is a arm and a leg to fix.  most of the mules are carb not fuel injected also.  Jmo
